- - - - - Do you remember when you were a child and you used to make rice crispie cakes? I do, and whilst eating this toffee crisp bar it reminded me of that. I hadn’t had a toffee crisp for a long time and when I saw the bright orange packet in sainsburys last week I just had to buy one. It cost 33 pence which is about the average price for a chocolate bar. A toffee crisp bar is made up of crisped cereal (which are just like rice crispies) then there is a layer of soft toffee on top and its all covered in a thin layer of milk chocolate. They are made by nestle. As I take my first bite into it I can smell the chocolate and the toffee and these are the first things that I can taste as well. The toffee in this bar starts to go string like as I bite off the first mouthful so it dangles down from the bar. Mmmm it tastes good. It is very chewy from the toffee and the crispie pieces make it slightly crunchy. The taste takes me back to being a child again and eating rice crispie cakes, the melted chocolate poured all over the rice crispie and then left to set, they have the same sort of bobbley texture as these toffee crisp bars. This chocolate bar was very nice and I found it to be filling too. The bar was just the right size and I wouldn’t have wanted it to be any bigger or smaller than it was. I find that sometimes chocolate bars that contain toffee as well can be quite sickly after a few bites, but not this one. I really enjoyed eating it and will certainly be buying more of these. They are not good for dieters though as they are chocolate and each bar contains 245 calories and 13.4 g of fat. The nutritional information can be found on the back of the packet.
