... petrol stations and cigarette desks, they can also be picked up in multipacks at the supermarket. A packet of 3 at Tesco costs £1.13, whereas a tube in a newsagent costs around 55p. The anatomy of a softmint is as follows. They are not soft out of the packet, they have a hard appearing capsule around them, but this is quite thin. Once you bite into a softmint, the centre is both soft and chewy, and unfortunately they are quite prone to getting stuck in your teeth. The softness is not the liquid softness that you'd get...more

Premium Review Trebor Mints Spearmint Soft: Softly does it (487 words)

Trebor were originally founded in 1907 and manufactured boiled sweets, they first produced Trebor Mints in 1935, but it wasn't until 1981 that Softmints hit the marketplace. Softmints are the 3rd best selling mint of the Trebor product range. In 1989 the company was acquired by Cadbury Schweppes. Softmints are available in both spearmint and peppermint, the only difference in the packaging of both these sweets is the colour. The Peppermint variety is in a green coloured pack and the Spearmint in a blue coloured pack. Both flavours are equally as good but for the purpose of this review and to avoid repetition I will concentrate on the Spearmint ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Trebor Tremendous (424 words)

Recently I was after some polo mints and the shop was out of stock, my little local newsagents, so I opted for Trebor softmints instead. The spearmint flavour came in an enticing metallic blue tube, with metallic blue silver paper and design on them, and I particularly liked the large red five-pointed star with the word Trebor in it - this made them stand out for me. In small writing under the name there is a line as follows - DID YOU KNOW ROBERT ROBERTSON WAS ONE OF THE ORIGINAL FOUNDERS OF TREBOR IN 1907? I may be thick, but up until now I did not realise that Trebor was Robert backwards....doh! My husband has just said, of course, we all knew ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Trebor Mints Spearmint Soft: A jacket pocket staple! (283 words)

These are a staple as far as I'm concerned, and my girlfriend too always seems to keep a tube in her handbag, they are a lovely gentle/soft mint and they taste fabulous. On the other hand, I think generally mints are sold not only for their enjoyable taste but for their breath freshening properties, and I have to say for this quality, these mints are perhaps not that brilliant, they really are quite mild. Softmints are generally sold in tubes of 45g, and although they are usually bought singularly from petrol stations and cigarette desks, they can also be picked up in multipacks at the supermarket. A packet of 3 at Tesco costs £1.13, whereas a tube in a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Spearmint softmints - remind me of school! (227 words)

Trebor is a company that is probably best known for its Extra Strong Mints, or at least its mints in general. When I was at school, and my mum would pick me and my brother up or take us to school, she would often have a packet of either the peppermint or spearmint soft mints that Trebor produce. My favourites were the peppermint flavour, but the spearmint ones are very nice, too. More recently, I spotted a packet of these for 48p in my local Somerfield as I was buying a 3-pack of the peppermint soft mints, and I soon tucked into them. The spearmint flavour is more powerful than the peppermint, and the blue UFO-like disc has a faint hue of blue about it, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Trebor Mints Spearmint Soft: Toothpaste flavoured chews anyone? Yes please (309 words)
by - written on 18/04/09 (Very useful, 49 readings)

Trebor Soft Mints are a chewy mint about the size of a ten pence piece, coated in hard sugar candy. They are very minty, and fulfil all needs for breath, but are gone in a minute of delightful chewing. Unlike chewing gum, which is a pain to get rid of, you can just swallow these up. Once you crack through the hard coating, you're into a chewy goo of spearmint, and it's delicious. Because of this, I always think Trebor are trying to tackle the world of chewing gum with these, as they're a cross between a sweet and a chewing gum. The plus is they're tastier and easier to dispose of, but the minus is that they're not going to last as long as a chewing gum which ...  Read the complete review
