Advantages: Unique taste, flavour lasts for a long time
Disadvantages: Quite pricey for only 9 pieces
I was looking for some chewing gum to keep me occupied instead of eating chocolate, and was enticed by Trident Splash gum's brightly coloured box amongst all the boring Wrigley's boxes.
This gum is different to regular gum - its gum with a fruity liquid centre.
You get nine pieces per pack, and they come in a blister pack (like paracetamol do) which slides into a cardboard sleeve. This keeps the gum nice and fresh and helps lock in the flavour. The pieces of gum themselves are quite big - around 2 x 1 centimetres. They are white in colour.
They are sugar free, but do have a few E numbers in the ingredients (four to be precise). The pack states that the gum may contain sesame seed or nut traces - so people with serious allergies to these need to be careful. The box also says that excessive consumption may cause laxative effects - though we are given no indication as to what constitutes "excessive"! I've eaten three pieces of gum in one day and not seen any ill effects.
So what does it taste like? Well, on first bite of the gum you can feel the liquid centre ooze out. This gives a wonderful fruity taste. The gum is nice and soft and chewable - the way it should be! After five minutes you can still taste the fruity flavour (though it has faded a bit), and the gum still has its soft chewiness. Just recently I tried Trident Soft gum and that was not very nice, it went rubbery after a couple of minutes, but this gum stays gummy!
Overall I think this is a good choice of gum, with an interesting flavour, much better than spearmint!!
Summary: Its much better than spearmint flavour!
