Advantages: Tastes great, holds it's flavour for ages!
Disadvantages: None to me
When it comes to chewing gum I really am such a fan of it! I get through oodles of the stuff in a week and have to admit that really I'm a rather traditional girl deep down at heart and prefer minty fresh gums as a rule. However when I saw this reduced to 10p packet at my local Nisa store (usually about 59p a packet) I was intrigued to try it out though I have to be honest I thought I'd hate it!
The Packaging....
Bright green and brown cardboard 'sleeve' that pulls on and off a foil and clear plastic tray containing 9 gums and to pop them out you gently push the gum through the green and brown foil wrapper which covers the one side and on that I'm told they are Trident 'Sweet Kicks'. On the front of the cardboard sleeve I'm told they are Sugar-free Trident Sweet Kicks which are 'chocolate and mint flavour' and that the pack contains '9 gums'. On the back of the sleeve in black and white writing I'm given a list of ingredients and given allergy advice, nutritional information is listed and contact details for Cadburys Trebor Bassett are given (the manufacturer of Trident products), the best before date is stamped on as is the recycle symbol and finally the bar-code is displayed on there. I do like the packaging of the Trident range and think this looks nice shoved in a handbag or whatever and it's very practical!
The Gums....
I was impressed when really as I said earlier I am a traditional gum chewer usually.
Each piece of gum was quite thick, oblong shaped and hard on the outside like they are coated with sugar and the inside was white and slightly squidgy. When you first break through the gum by chewing it, it's crunchy though not too hard (and I do have sensitive teeth remember lol) and it takes a couple of minutes of chewing to make the white gum completely smooth and glossy. I really do like the texture of these gums.
What gives each gum the flavour is a small amount of light brown liquid to the centre of each gum. It flavours the gum and in this the taste is chocolate with a hint of menthol mint that isn't too strong. I don't like chocolate and mint together as a combination usually but this was fabulous and I'd like to shake the hand of the inventor of this!
It holds it's flavour for a good hour and a bit and the chocolate taste is high quality and not too sweet whilst the mint freshens breath and helps me breath a bit more easily at the same time! With no weight stated on the packaging at all it's hard to say calorie wise what they are but I do know that per 100g of these it's 165 Kcal and only 0.2g fat of which only 0.1g of that is saturated fat so this has got to be healthy on the old waistline cos each one can't weigh much at all lol.
I found this to help me beat my sweet cravings big time and all round just found it really different, tasty and totally chewable and absolutely of great quality!
Worth a try people!
Summary: Lovely and unusual!

- 08/05/09 Like you I seem to prefer the minty chewing gum. If I'm not eating food, I'm chewing on gum. I've also been tempted into trying out many of these new flavours on the market but usually end up giving them to my daughter who loves them. Haven't tried this flavour tho' and you've persuaded me. |
