Advantages: Very moreish
Disadvantages: Calories if you eat the whole box
Introduction
==========
I hate January and February because I lost my close family in those months so it is always a very low time for me. Now you are thinking what has this got to do with teacakes? Well my Mum loved these teacakes and when she used to take me shopping she would always by one pack and open them in the car before we returned home. We would both have one each and she saved the rest for later (not that I saw them again).
I had forgotten this until I was walking around my local Somerfield's and saw them on the shelf. The memory can rushing back and brought a smile on my face so how could I resist buying a pack in the memory of my Mum?
A Bit of History
============
Don't worry I am not going to bore you with lots of information about the company. However they have been established since 1890 when Thomas Tunnock bought a shop for £80 and they are still a family run business to this day.
The Product
==========
I bought a 6 pack of teacakes however they can be bought in a 10 pack as well but I do not think I would be safe to have that many left in my home, trust even six do not last me long but hopefully long enough to write this review.
The packaging has not changed in years they are still in the yellow box with red writing. The clear panel enable you to see the 6 foiled wrapped teacakes in the traditional red and silver just waiting to be opened and devoured.
Holding one of these wrapped teacakes in my hand they seem bigger than what I remember but maybe I was just too eager to eat mine as a child. The dome of chocolate that hold in the white marshmallow sat on the biscuit base.
The Taste
========
As my teeth sink into the dome I hear the chocolate crack, my teeth then slide through the marshmallow until they hit the biscuit base. The biscuit base is not soggy like I would have expected having had marshmallow sat on top of it.
Looking at the bitten teacake I can see that the milk chocolate is very thin and only just coats the teacake but the milk chocolate has a very rich taste so if it had been any thicker I assume it would be too slickly.
The marshmallow is very white (have they been using daz because it is very dazzling) and sticky to the touch. The marshmallow is not too sweet either and it light on the pallet.
In all the whole combination makes this teacake a very enjoyable treat.
Other information
==============
Well you knew it had to be somewhere didn't you, there is 102 calories and 4.4g of fat per teacake, which is very good if only I could stop at one!
As mentioned earlier you can also get the in a 10 pack and according to this box you can also get them with dark chocolate, I shall have to keep a look out for those.
For the allergy sufferers these teacakes contain egg, cow's milk, wheat gluten and soya. For once though there is no warning about traces of nuts so all you nut allergy suffers can try these out.

Overview
========
Well if it is not clear from this review I thoroughly enjoyed eating these teacakes, I have only managed to eat two during this review but I am sure then when I finish this review I will be able to give them my full attention.
If you have never tried these then I recommend you do because at 69p for a box of 6 teacakes I find them very good value for money but do not blame me if the whole box disappears within a few hours because they are very moreish.
Thanks for reading.
