Advantages: Tasty, Nostalgic, Just a pleasure to eat
Disadvantages: not so healthy
These remind me so much of my grand mother, every time I came to visit her as a child she had a huge biscuit tin filled with tunnock's teacakes and various other delicious cakes and biscuits, but these are the ones I remember the most.
They consist of a round biscuit base with a large blob of marshmallow cream on top covered in a layer of chocolate.
Their size is very generous and the cream is very sweet and addictive. The chocolate is quite light in flavor and coating so it dosent take away from the soft texture and deliciousness of the cream within.
The biscuit base is very moist and edible too and is also covered in a thin layer of chocolate.
As a child I used to try and screw the bottom biscuit base off while keeping the chocolate covered cream capsule intact.
I would then eat the base and savor the sweet gooeyness of the marshmallow cream.
I could never understand why other kids around me would take joy in taking off the wrapper and splatting it up top on their foreheads, I think they were daft and didn't apreciate a good thing when they saw it. I thought it was such a waste of such a delicious treat.
I think the cardboard packaging is more appropriate to a bag though as it stops the teacakes getting smashed so easily and the plastic front allows you to see the product and make sure the products are intact.
The packaging also looks very bright and appealing and is automatically recognizable which i think is very helpful, it also still looks very traditional which I admire as it is such a well aged after tea treat.
I think they have increased in price now however as have most foods I think they are around three to four pounds now for a six pack of them, but I still think the price is worth it because they taste great and are really addictive.
Perhaps it is also not the most healthy snack though and should be eaten in moderation as I am sure it contains hundreds of calories and lots of sugar.
Summary: They have aged extremely well
