Advantages: taste nice, great value for money

Disadvantages: n/a

These were a typical Sunday night pudding when I was in primary school. To be honest I hadn't even realised that Tunnock's still made them. As there were 6 of us in total, the amount in the pack got rid of any possible squabbling between me and my younger brother. Something which could of happened had there of been any more or any less.

The Tunnock's tea cake has become increasingly popular over the years. Appareantly they are a favourite of Supergrass although that could just be nonsense. The company, founded in 1890 also manufactor a different range of products although these are probably my favourite.

Simply put these are a dome like shape with a sticky, soft marshmallow centre on a biscuit which is then covered in a thin layer of milk chocolate. Once bitten into the coating breaks away easily to show you the white concoction inside. It has the same taste and consistency that you'd expect from your Snowball cake which are another of my favourites. Sweet with a slightly vanilla flavour you also have the base to enjoy as well.

Although this is quite soft compared to your usual biscuit the chocolate holds it all together so you don't make too many crumbs. It means you get a nice combination of sweet, sticky and cruncy all in one go. The covering doesn't add much to it and I don't think you can actually taste the chocolate at all. Personally I would like there to be a bit of jam in them so as to give an added flavour.

These are individually wrapped in red and silver foil. Also having a dark chocolate option as well. Whilst you get six in a pack I find that it can be easy to eat more than one at a time. Either they've shrunk or I've just gotten bigger because I was certain that back when I was younger they were larger in size! In each separate one you are consuming 106 calories, 1.2g protein, 14.9g carbohydrate (8.6g of which are sugars), 4.6g fat (2.5g of which are saturates), 0.6g fibre, 0.05g sodium (0.12g salt equivalent)

Whilst eaten on their own I find them too sweet so I always have a cup of tea close to hand. Just to make it taste that extra bit nicer. With 6 in a pack and when you're only spending 91p from Asda I think these are well worth the money. They are lovely to eat without being too sickly and are also suitable for vegetarians. A tasty treat.

Tunnock's mostly attract me for their amazing Caramel Wafers, but these aren't far behind!
