Advantages: Taste great

Disadvantages: Bad for you

I've just bought one of these for the first time in years and it's totally reminded why they used to be one of my favourite chocolate bars. Mine cost 40p for the usual 2 finger pack from the corner shop but the price can vary greatly from shop to shop.

They can also be found in multipacks in most supermarkets and these work out as much better value, the 5 pack of twin finger Twixes is currently £1.35 in Tesco which works out as 27p each. You can also get king size or fun size Twix bars, or 1 finger bars.

The twin finger bars come in a shiny gold wrapper which is always easy to spot, and is made of foil like most wrappers to keep the bar fresh. The front of the wrapper says that there's no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, and shows how many calories there are in a finger. I think this is quite misleading as it shows plainly on the front the amount of calories and people looking at it will automatically assume that this is for the whole of what's in the wrapper, but it's not, it's just for 1 finger.

Each finger is 29g and has 142 calories and 6.9g of fat, so if you eat the whole thing then you're getting 284 calories and 13.8g of fat. This is rather a lot for something that is so small so I wouldn't recommend this to be eaten a lot. The wrapper doesn't tell you how much sugar or salt is in it, so I can only guess at it being very high amounts of each.

Each finger is about 4 inches long not much more than half an inch wide, so you really don't get a lot for your money. Like most other things they have shrunk a lot over the years which I would say was fair enough as with obesity on the increase it's probably better that these type of things are smaller, but they're making them smaller and charging more for them which doesn't seem at all fair.

The twix is made up of a biscuit base with a layer of caramel on top, covered in chocolate. The biscuit is quite flavourful and crunchy, but it's not the overpowering flavour when you bite into the twix, you can hardly really taste it. The caramel is very sweet but not sickly, and it's smooth in texture and not too sticky. The whole thing's covered in a fairly thick layer of creamy chocolate which is again very sweet, but not sickly. The flavours of all 3 parts together is fantastic. The biscuit takes away some of the sweetness to stop it from being too sweet and overpowering, and the whole thing is just a joy to eat. I can't believe I've waited so long to buy one again as eating this one has made me remember just how addictive they can be!

Summary: One of the best chocolate bars out there
