Advantages: Delicious and theres two of them.
Disadvantages: Disadvantages?? How very dare you!!
One of my all time favourite snack`s is the well known Twix bar, Twix is made by mars and has been around for the longest time (since 1967 to be precise). Now most of you guys on here will not have been around then let alone be able to remember it but I for one can and I still remember my delight as I took the first ever bite of a Twix bar.
They became my instant favourite and even after all these years and the arrival of ever more delicious sweets to the market they remain one of my first choices today.
Twix has been the centre of many discussions over the years as to whether it should be marketed as a chocolate bar or a biscuit because of its crunch biscuit base, for me you can call it what you like but if I was pushed into a decision I would I guess have to go with the Twix bar being a biscuit.
Twix is unmistakable on a shelve with its shiny gold wrapper and the word Twix in large red lettering on the front, the packaging has changed very little over the years unlike many similar products who seem to change their logo and package colouring with extreme regularity. Twix has a good package and a huge buyers market and therefore needs no change!
In the miraculous event that somebody out there does not know what a Twix is perhaps I should explain, a Twix bar is a two finger snack, each finger has a biscuit base topped by a layer of thick, delicious, smooth caramel and is covered in chocolate. A Twix finger is around six inches in length and a very satisfying eat.
THE TWIX EXPERIENCE
Firstly you must find a Twix in your local store or supermarket, Twix can be bought in many shapes and sizes these days but for now we will stick to the original. Once you have located the shiny gold packaged snack you must make your way to the tills where you can expect to pay between 40 and 45p then that's it the Twix is yours. Now you have a decision to make, do you head home and eat in comfort or can you not wait that long and open it now??
Whichever you choose you open the Twix by tearing down one of the slight grooves in the top of the wrapper, if done correctly you should expose your first finger along with the delicious Twix aroma. My advice from here would be to slide the finger completely free from the pack and start to devour in one of two ways, either by biting straight through the layer of caramel and biscuit together and getting the complete taste or by chewing the caramel from the biscuit and then starting on the biscuit.
My advice would be to eat one finger one way and the next the other (that's the advantage of a two finger snack).
Once you have finished both fingers you should be fully satisfied, only the greediest of people could want more than one Twix at a time although you do get a king size Twix these days for the hungrier Twix fanatic.
THE AROMA
The scent from a Twix bar is a very pleasurable one, mainly one of chocolate but there is a nice hint of caramel to it also. I have consumed so many Twix`s now I can smell the scent at will from memory!!
THE TASTE
Of course with any sweet or biscuit the main thing is the taste and Mar`s have the perfect taste sensation with the Twix. I am not a big fan of caramel especially runny caramel but the chewy, smooth caramel on a Twix bar is out of this world. Chewy but melt in the mouth, sweet but not too sweet, in short just perfect. The biscuit base is a butter biscuit and tastes really buttery and has a very nice satisfying crunch to it, it is a hard biscuit base not at all crumbly just how I like my biscuit to be. The chocolate is of course mar`s (well it would be seen as they make them).
Now I have to admit I am not the biggest fan of mar`s chocolate either, much preferring Cadbury but it seems to be more the combination of things than each individual part of this snack that make it taste so good.
WAYS TO BUY A TWIX
The original 2 finger bar - 40 - 45p
9 single biscuit finger multi-pack - 99p - £1.09
King size 2 finger bar - 54 - 60p
375g bag of funsize fingers - £1.99 - £2.19
Muti-pack of 5 original 2 finger bars - £1.55 - £1.75
So there you have it a great biscuit bar available in so many formats there must be one to suit everyone. My grandkids get single fingers in their lunch boxes which is a great idea, a nice treat without having too much chocolate. My favourite way to buy and eat will always remain the original bar but others will find uses for the snack and king size versions I am sure.
Twix is also available in ice cream form now these days as are many if not all mars products but I find the ice cream version to be far too sickly although it does remain a certain resemblance to Twix taste it is not nor ever will be a replacement to a Twix bar for me.
The other thing Twix has in its favour is availability, I have never and I mean never went into a local store, newsagents or supermarket and not been able to purchase a Twix. Some other sweet`s can be hard to find with some stores preferring not to stock them. My other two favourites come into this category, the dark chocolate bounty and the fry`s Turkish delight, both can be very hard to find at times whereas the Twix will be first on every stores order sheet I am sure!
RECOMMENDATION TIME
Fully recommended to each and every person looking for the ideal snack although if your fancy is for chocolate then remember this is probably more a biscuit bar and may not satisfy chocolate urges!
Thanks for reading!
