Advantages: Delicious crunchy biscuit base with smooth chocolate and caramel, different sizes available, classic
Disadvantages: None, except it's not a 'light' snack when you look at the fat/cals
As a girl growing up in a chocolate shop I used to be a big fan of traditional chocolate treats, though not so much anymore. That said, Twix is a classic and an occasional twix break always gets a thumbs up from me.
Twix is produced by Mars so you're getting a quality product made from years of knowledge and experience. It was first introduced to the UK in 1967 before going over the sea to the States in 1979. It's extremely popular now in many countries, and I doubt I could find many people in the UK that haven't heard of, or tried, Twix.
Twix are typically sold individually in 2 finger foil-wrapped packets for freshness. They've retained most of their classic appeal over time with the gold wrapper and they still have the same yummy goodness. They're made of a shortbread biscuit base, with a layer of caramel on top, and is then covered in smooth milk chocolate. Each individual finger (29g) contains 142 calories and 6.9g fat. Bear in mind that if you eat a 2 finger pack you're getting twice as much, so 284 cals and 13.8g fat. That said, it's not the lightest of snacks as it's similar the big chocolate loaded bars like Lion and Double Decker. Individual 2-finger bars can vary in price from around 40-60p, but are usually slightly cheaper in supermarkets. If you want to keep a few in the cupboard you can save some pennies by buying a multipack. Tesco sell a 5 pack of double fingers for £1.40, but they also do multipacks of individual fingers which is a good idea if you want a lighter snack. A pack of 9 individually wrapped fingers costs £1.13 and a pack of 16 costs £1.83. A great idea for lunchboxes or to take out with you as a snack, as are the Funsize versions (slightly smaller than the average 4" finger). Twix have expanded their range now to include things such as milkshakes, so there must be something good about the product to make them so popular. If you really like these and have a serious case of the munchies, a kingsize double bar is also available which can be found in most newsagents and at the sweets counter by tills in supermarkets.
The biscuit is crunchy and the caramel soft and chewy so you can take your time eating them and savouring the taste. The chocolate has a rippled effect on the top and you get just enough to satisfy a sweet tooth without being too sickly. A one finger bar is usually enough to satisfy your want for something crunchy, sweet & chocolately. Twix isn't exactly extra special as it's quite basic, but it has a classic appeal and distinctive taste which is delicious. There's nothing bad I can say about these really, unless to take into account the fat/cals, but other than that its an all around great snack bar.
Summary: A classic favourite biscuit/chocolate bar, yum yum! :o)
