Advantages: Two fingers, tasty, appealing texture

Disadvantages: Perhaps more sweet than chocolate tasting

Another stupidly named chocolate bar - the Twix is a mainstay of your local newsagent's chocolate armoury.

These bars have been around for as long as I can remember, they are packaged in a distinctive golden packaging with large, bold red lettering outlined in white. They appear larger than other chocolate bars, mainly due to them being divided into two seperate 'fingers'. Not real fingers, may I add, as that would be very odd and disturbing. It would also be odd (but convenient at snacktimes) if actual human fingers were in fact Twix fingers. But they aren't. Hmm. I'll continue.

Each finger is made up of one layer of biscuit, one layer of caramel, and then it is surrounded in chocolate. Due to there being two fingers, technically Twix bars can be shared easily. However, if I'm eating a Twix I often find that one finger is not enough on its own, so I find it very difficult to share!

Texture-wise, the Twix is very pleasant. The chocolate is very thin, however the mixture of soft chewy caramel and biscuit is very interesting and appealing. The biscuit is nice and crunchy., and makes up a substantial proportion of each finger. This does beg the question though, is a Twix a biscuit or a chocolate bar?

Twix bars are also winners when it comes to taste. The biscuit, caramel and chocolate are all very sweet and sugary, however there is also a light but very distinct chocolatey/almost coffee like taste to the bar. This may not be for everybody, especially if you prefer your chocolate to be super-rich, however it ensures the Twix is a worthwhile and delightful snack.

There are many ways to eat a Twix. Personally, I'm fond of the 'traditional' method, in which each finger is basically eaten like a normal chocolate bar (or you could try stuffing it all in your mouth in one go!). However I have met a surprising number of people who have a very methodical and rather messy way of a eating a Twix, in which they first eat the top layer of the finger (the caramel), and then continue to eat the biscuit layer on its own. Different strokes for different folks.

Overall, the Twix is a tasty chocolate bar with a nice blend of crunchy and smooth textures. Additionally, to add a bit of interest - and perhaps a bit of challenge - there are a couple of different ways to eat a Twix. A fun chocolatey snack!

Summary: A classic chocolate bar
