Advantages: Iconic, was once great

Disadvantages: Slightly dry, taste has gone

Is it just me or is life getting worse? Or perhaps life is too good when I find myself on here moaning about how biscuity snacks have gotten worse over the years. I found I had a huge penchant for Twixes, what with their texture, the thick layer of caramel which could be satisfyingly bitten clean off the shortbready base and the joy of knowing that once that finger is gone there was another ready to be eaten next to it!

However, maybe due to the many spinoffs that twix have attempted (the ice-cream, the slice etc) or maybe just a cut back in premium ingredients I find that they are just not as tasty anymore. The biscuit falls slightly on the dry side, the chocolate just cant compete with Cadbury's or Nestle and the overall satisfaction from eating a Twix has fallen.

They still occasionally fix an urge and as I said the texture works well but I feel at somepoint over the last few years they have lost their taste and taste is of course the most important thing, even with an iconic snack.

Summary: European standardisation, perhaps, has left Twixes with a dry base and lack of taste

My guess would be they cut the salt levels - nothing tastes of much after they do that.
