Advantages: Tasty, and there are two of them!
Disadvantages: King Size aren't available in multipacks
The Twix debuted on out shelves back in 1967 and has been one of my favourite chocolate bars for as long as I can remember.
The Twix, as the name hints, comes in packs of two fingers. It is basically a caramel topping a biscuit base. Being a product of Mars it is covered in delicious galaxy chocolate which I personally find far more appealing than Cadbury or Nestle chocolate.
The caramel layer seems to be the very same product that is used in Mars bars and therefore very tasty with a nice texture.
The biscuit base, when eaten on its own is a little tasteless but nobody is forcing you to nibble the caramel layer off the top first so it is fine as it is.
Should you find yourself taking a journey across the Atlantic you'll be glad to know that unlike Milky Ways and Mars Bars the American Twix is very similar to ours. The chocolate isn't as nice, American chocolate is generally dire, but the biscuit and caramel do enough to hide the quality of chocolate over there.
Back on our side of the pond and not a lot had changed about the Twix over the years. We've had the larger King size Twix for about a decade now and I prefer these. I could be wrong, but I believe the proportions of caramel to biscuit are a little different in the king size Twix and I prefer the way it tastes compared to the regular size.
If you buy a Twix from your local convenience store you're likely to be paying about 45-50p and 65-75p for the king size. They are much better value when purchased in multi packs. If you can control yourself and not do yourself harm by eating the whole pack in one sitting then the multipack option is the obviously the best unless like me you prefer the taste of the king size.
Overall the Twix is a very enjoyable chocolate biscuit and I hope it won't be changed any time soon. Far too many of my favourites have suffered from changes or ceased to exist due to lack of popularity but I'm sure the Twix will be here for many years to come.
Summary: It's one of the best.
