Advantages: taste
Disadvantages: sugar
A twix surely has to be one of the very best chocolate bars out there. What you have with these are two fingers of shortbread that are topped with thick, sticky caramel, and wrapped in milk chocolate. Only one word comes to mind: mmm.
The Twix is so nice because it combines three of my favourite ingredients. First up, the shortbread. Ever since I was a young lad I have loved the sweet doughiness of shortbread. I prefer it home-made, but Twix have got a nice batch going too. Shortbread is noticeably fatty, or buttery perhaps I should say. It's really moist and sumptuous, and crumbles in your mouth luxuriantly. It's the perfect base for the next two ingredients.
Second up is the caramel. Caramel can be a bit hit or miss with chocolate really - you have to get the right balance between being either too hard or too soft, and Twix have done that. It's in the middle. It's not runny, but it will droop a bit, and is easy enough to bite through and chew. You won't lose any teeth with it, but it won't dribble down your chin either (careful), so it's just right.
Finally, the chocolate. Twix chocolate is nothing particularly amazing, and is just a fairly thin layer. However, it's rippled, which gives your tongue something to bounce off joyously when you bite it, and as it melts you get into the caramel: mmm.
All in all, this is a lovely chocolate bar. Of course it's really high in sugar, and we all know you should only eat it in moderation, but let me say one last time: mmm.
Summary: do it
