Advantages: chocolate bar, easily available

Twix bars (manufactured by Mars) have been around in the UK since 1967 and over the years we have seen many different varieties (Twix orange, Twix white chocolate, Twix Dark, Twix Ice cream, Twix single finger, Twix miniatures etc). They are sold in many countries and in the USA they have had other versions of the twix such as the cookies and cream twix.

A standard twix is a biscuit finger, covered at the top with a layer of soft caramel then the whole thing is wrapped in slightly rippled chocolate.

In the UK, a single twix bar retails for around 47p, with five packs of the two finger bars selling for around £1.57 now (they used to be 99p.. I have seen a dramatic increase in chocolate multipack prices in the last few months though). Twix bars are also sold in most pound shops where you can get 9 or 12 single bars in a pack for £1. A friend pointed out to me if you buy the single finger bars, most people will still take two from the fridge though as one just isn't enough.

Nurtitionally- one twix finger provides 142 calories and 5.9g of fat. Times that by two (as in most shop bought twin bar twix packs) and you are looking at a hefty 284 calories per snack (in comparison a creme egg is 180 calories...). So they aren't that "healthy" but you get the option of eating both bars at once or saving one for later... depends on your will power.
