My other half often comes home from work with a chocolate bar for me as a little treat (I know, I'm spoiled!).

Any regular readers of my reviews will be aware by now that I am a HUGE chocoholic, so said little gifts are of course always well received!

The chocolate bar of choice seems to be very much selected at random by my other half, and this has led to some disappointment at times, even though I'm not particularly fussy.

However, the chocolate of choice a couple of nights ago was a 'Twix' bar which was VERY well received, given that I had not tasted one for ages!

When I was unwrapping the foil-style wrapper, I was immediately aware of the delicious smell of good-quality milk chocolate. Removing one of the long finger-style 'bars' from the wrapper, I took a healthy-sized bite - only for the purposes of this review of course! 0;-)

The bottom 'layer' of the biscuit is the most scrummy crunchy biscuit and is just as delicious as I remembered. The biscuit is not a 'honeycomb' type of crunch, but instead is more akin to a digestive biscuit or something similar.

On top of this biscuit is a delicious layer of thick caramel. The caramel is of course very sweet, but not overly so and I didn't find it to be too sickly or overpowering. I did think that the caramel was of a fairly high quality and found that it complimented the biscuit perfectly.

The whole 'finger' of Twix is covered in good quality 'Mars' chocolate and it doesn't scrimp like similar chocolate bars. There is a good, satisfying 'bite' to this bar of chocolate and I did find that it satisfied my sweet cravings, unlike other bars that leave me raiding the biscuit barrel!

I will point out that I felt the packaging had a bit of a recent revamp - The packaging shown in the dooyoo picture at the top of the page is most definitely the 'old style'. The new style wrapper is more like a gold 'foil' design... It's definitely more eye-catching!

The nutritional information on the reverse of the packaging informs me that one piece of Twix bar (29g) will provide me with 142 calories and 6.9g of fat.

All in all I would quite highly recommend this chocolate snack - it has been AGES since I last ate a Twix and I thoroughly enjoyed my little trip down memory lane. My only complaint would be that the caramel and chocolate topping on the biscuit base isn't quite as 'robust' as other bars of chocolate and in fact the second 'finger' of my Twix had somehow got a bit squashed and flattened. This of course, didn't take anything away from the taste and I still scoffed the lot, but it is definitely a more 'fragile' snack than some!

I will deduct one star for the above reason, but otherwise I cannot really fault this chocolaty snack! Four stars from me!

Summary: A four star snack! :-D

I wish I were spoiled :(
I've gone off Twix though - just the taste I guess. Nice review.
