Advantages: Chewy, crunchy and chocolate all in one bar
Disadvantages: None - ever
I eat a Twix at around 10 every workday morning with my cup of tea and have done so, practically without fail for the last 20 years or so.
It wasn't always this way and I tell myself that I can change, but really, I just don't want to. It's not an obsession, mind, just a severe 'liking'.
When I started work, many years ago, 1980 to be exact, the morning run to the sweetshop brought many a different taste experience to my eager tastebuds.
Mars were too sweet and chewy.
Crunchie, again sweet and some weren't crunchy at all, but a goey mess inside.
Milky Way, pleeease - never again.
Bounty - coconut - Why?
Nutty Bar - now you are talking. A fudge finger rolled in peanuts. This was lovely and was my pre-Twix delight until they stopped making it.
Then I tried a Twix. I don't remember a blinding light and revelation, but something made me have more, and now it is a habit.
Perhaps it is that there are two bars in a packet, so you feel that there is more than just one treat to eat. Perhaps it is the perfect combination of crunchy biscuit and chewy caramel, covered in milk chocolate (not too much, not too little, just the right amount).
Only thing I notice is that they are getting smaller, or is it just the greyness of time that makes you think that they were bigger in the old days?
Could I give them up - yes of course, but I hope nobody will ever ask!
Summary: A hard habit to break!
