Advantages: Great combination of chocolate, caramel and crunchy biscuit!
Disadvantages: Sickly if you have too many
***TWIX***
Twix is a chocolate bar made by Mars which consists of a sweet biscuit base with a thick layer of caramel which is then covered all over in milk chocolate. Twix has 2 fingers of this yummy combination in the wrapper. It's available to buy from local shops and supermarkets for about 56p. I believe you can also buy these in multipacks and lunch-box size which contain just one smaller Twix finger.
Twix has been released in many countries which has included lots of different flavours such as Cookies-n-Cream, Chocolate Fudge, Triple Chocolate, Choc 'N' Orange and many more flavours. A lot of these were apparently released in the UK but I don't ever remember seeing any other Twix bars other than the standard bar which is available to buy now.
***PACKAGING***
Twix comes in plastic foil wrapper which is gold in colour. It has 'Twix' in red, bold writing across the front and also shoes a small picture of what Twix looks like. On the front if the packet it also states there are no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. On the back of the packet you will finds ingredients and nutritional information as well as details such as their address and web-site should you need to contact them.
***NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION***
One Twix finger (29g) contains the following:
* Calories - 142kcal (7% RDA)
* Fat - 6.5g (10% RDA)
This contains traces of hazelnut and almond
***APPEARANCE/SMELL***
When opening the foil wrapper you can smell a slight chocolatey smell. In the wrapper you get 2 finger sticks each of which are about 10cm long. The finger sticks are covered in milk chocolate and the top of the finger sticks look rippled which is form the caramel and chocolate topping which rests on top of the crunchy biscuit base.
***TASTE TEST***
When biting into the finger my teeth sink into the chocolate and the caramel layer whilst my bottom teeth crunch into the biscuit base. The biscuit, caramel and chocolate taste lovely together and fill my mouth with a lovely sweet taste, but nothing too sickly. The chocolate coating is nice but not too sickly and the caramel layer is smooth and chewy. The biscuit base is crunchy and sweet. As you bite into the Twix finger you can see the pale beige colour of the biscuit and the thick layer of caramel which sits on top of the biscuit. The chocolate coating is just a thin coating and isn't too thick.
When eating this I remember it tasting slightly different than before, so I'm not sure if they have changed the recipe or not since I last had a Twix which was quite a long time ago now! The Twix is nice but I seem to remember it tasting nicer than this. I remember as a child loving this chocolate bar but now I'm not so keen and would choose another bar over this one any-day!
***OVERALL OPINION***
These are still quite yummy, but I much prefer Cadbury's chocolate and the chocolate on this doesn't taste as creamy and sweet as Cadburys. I also think the recipe to Twix has changed as I remember them being much tastier than they are now. I will eat one of these on the odd occasion if I'm craving chocolate and there isn't anything else in the house but this isn't a choccie bar I would buy on a regular basis. I think the small lunch-boxed size would suit me more as you only get one fingers and they are smaller than the standard Twix. If you love caramel, chocolate and biscuit then try out Twix.
