**~~**~~**~~** Uncle Ben's Express Egg Fried Rice **~~**~~**~~** It's gone 11pm, we've got no money for takeout and we're starving after a marathon guitar hero III session (it's bloody ridiculous how addictive that thing is). After searching through the measly offerings in the cupboard (remember I'm still on the dole after being shafted by the evil ex-boss) I'm drawn to the corner in which lurks 3 packs of the aforementioned rice (I got them in Th'Asda on 3 for 2 offer but can't remember how many English pennies they cost). The lurid orange plastic deceptively makes me grab for them, and I declare in a triumphant voice that we shall dine like ... Read the complete review

Uncle Ben's is a brand that we all know of, even if we aren't a great fan of their products. It is an American company, owned by the Mars inc, and is a huge supplier of processed and instant meal solutions. Uncle Ben's express rice is an iconic element of any grocery shop or supermarket, cheerful and colourful; the rows of Orange vacuum packed instant rice are immediately recognisable. I like the branding, Orange is a good attractive colour, and the supermarket keeps all their products together, so it is easy to find, and easy to select what you want to buy. The express rice range contain pouches of ready cooked rice that you can snip a steam hole ... Read the complete review

As most of you will know, Uncle Bens is a brand name for most familys. They provide us with a variety of different rice dishes and also currys/Chinese sauces for us to use on main meals. Lately, a new range came on to the market. These were microwaveable rice packets. This was more of a convenience thing than anything and this shows in the price. The price of each microwaveable packet is about £1.60, though these are on offer as 3 for £3.75 and such like. Although convenient, I couldn't help but think it was really overpriced compared to just buying a pack of standard Uncle Bens rice and cooking it for 10-15 mins on the hob. These new egg fried rice ... Read the complete review

When my husband or I come in from work, we're often starving hungry or don't have the time or energy to cook a proper meal. So when we want to cook up something really quickly and easily, Uncle Ben's range of Express Rice makes our lives so much simpler. One of my favourites is Uncle Ben's Egg Fried Rice which is a tasty oriental style with long grain rice, cooked egg, sesame oil and oriental spices. It comes in a small, neat, bright orange plastic pouch with the Uncle Ben's logo and an image of the cooked rice on the front. The pack contains 250g which is suitable for one person if having a main meal such as Chinese, or would be suitable for two people if ... Read the complete review

This is a variety of microwavable rice made by Uncle Bens, there are a lot of different flavours available but this review is for the egg fried rice variant. It comes in a bright orange packet with a picture of a bowl of rice on the front. The pack is 250g. It tells you on the front that it contains no artificial colours ,flavours or preservatives. All you need to do to cook it is, squeeze the bag a bit to separate the rice, tear a small hole in the top of the bag (don't forget do do this as else it explodes-been there done that!) and put in the microwave for 2 minutes and thats it! The whole bag contains 10.6 grams of fat ... Read the complete review
