Its great to have packets of things like this in the cupboard for those occassions where you just dont have the time to make or do anything. Especially something like this, which almost passes as pre made and not as a ready meal!

The packets are sealed and have quite a long sell by date, which is good as you can keep them by for emergencies without worrying about wasting them. The rice's come in a packet which can stand up right or lay flat. I am not sure if the packaging is recyclable or not. The packaging is bright orange, which works well to catch attention, and has attractive looking pictures of rice dishes on the front. You just pop it into the microwave for a couple of minutes and it cooks evenly through the lot of it. One tip though, sometimes the rice may feel like a solid block within the pack, the trick to fix this is to break it up with your hands before cooking.

To open the pack you tear an easy rip strip off at the top and squeeze the rice out onto the plate. As soon as you open the pack you can smell the delicious scented rice. It smells of a rich tomato sauce. The steam is very hot though, so mind you do not burn yourself. The rice serves two portions, two medium sized ones. The rice is fluffy and well separated, which is hard to do even if you cook it yourself!

The taste of the rice is good. The basil is quite strong in this one, so make sure you like basil before you tuck in! This is a great way to eat rice, good tasting and super easy to cook!

Summary: Great for emergenices.
