Vegemite is a yeast extract spread from Australia. It is similar to Marmite but doesn't have such a salty and bitter taste or such a strong flavour. Personally I don't like Marmite at all, however I am a big Vegemite fan. It contains malt extract and vitamin B's, this means it is also very good for you. The B vitamins it contains are: Niacin, Thiamin, Riboflavin and a high amount of Folic Acid. This is good If you are trying to conceive or are pregnant. Vegemite is made in Australia by Kraft and has been consumed their for a great many years. It has become part of their culture. Just saying the name Vegemite brings images of Australia and their ... Surely one of the best Australian exports ever! Vegemite has been made in Australia (proudly it says on the jar) since 1923. It is a simple yet great tasting spread that is ideal for those with savoury tastebuds. The yeast extract spread comes from yeast grown on Barley and has few other ingredients added, except for two kinds of salt (salt mineral and 'salt) and Niacin and Riboflavin also. The jar is bright and easily recognisable with a bold yellow label that travels all around the jar with the distinctive VEGEMITE in bold white letters. Being from Australia, the makers 'proudly' tell you it is from their fair nation a good ... Read the complete review

Aren't toasters amazing articles. you plug them in. you put in 2 slices of bread, chances are when we do so we are either tired and just woken up, tired and just going to bed, tired and hung over or just being plain blimmin lazy!! so we push the button down and in less than 2 minutes we have a warm comforting snack in the shape of toast! amazing! And now the dilemma... what to spread on it to complete this lovely lazy meal?? The marmite "love it or hate it" effect is certainly well documented both here on dooyoo and on the tv. But THEN someone in the southern hemisphere woke up. and realised that for those of us finding ourselves firmly ... Read the complete review

The other day for some reason I was discussing the difference between Vegemite and Marmite with my husband who was vehement that there is absolutely no difference between the two. Now, I hadn't eaten Vegemite in years, but as our Marmite jar was just emptied I decided to get this instead as I know I used to like it. Also I noticed it was a bit cheaper than Marmite. And of course, I wanted to prove a point. I bought my jar from Asda where it cost me £1.98 for 220g (90p per 100g). It comes in a very similar jar to Marmite with a bright yellow lid and red and yellow label. I've done a comparison of the ingredients and while they are both mainly yeast extract, ... I'd always presumed vegemite was more or less the same as Marmite as both are suitable for Vegetarians (contrary to popular belief) and made mainly from yeast extract. In Sainsburys recently, they had Vegemite on half price offer and my usual Marmite next to this looked bluddy expensive so I popped a jar of this in my trolley. When it comes to aforementioned Marmite I am a 'love it' kinda girl; on toast, cheese sandwiches, crumpets, sometimes just a finger full right from the jar! So I was hoping i'd be satisfied with this substitute! What is Vegemite? ----------------------------- Primarily it is Yeast Extract! It also ... Read the complete review
