When I was quite a lot younger the only time I saw vinegar was in the traditional fish and chip shop where you stood at the counter watching the assistant putting your chips into a newspaper and then sprinkle your chips with salt and vinegar.

Now things are completely different. You can buy malt vinegar, white vinegar and cider vinegar. It has a distinct taste and is enjoyed all around the world. It usually comes in a glass bottle which can be recycled , which is good for the environment.

Vinegar has a wide range of uses apart from cooking. It can be used neat on the skin for stings and can be used diluted for cleaning any surfaces.

Vinegar is also widely used for cleaning windows.

Cider vinegar is useful for various aches and pains. You can now buy a book on vinegar. This gives you a comprehensive list of uses for vinegar. It costs around £3 and is good value for money.
