Advantages: cheap, versatile
Disadvantages: smells!!!
There are more than 300 different ways to use vinegar. (Don't worry, I'm not going to list all 300, I just wanted to demonstrate how versatile this product is.) You don't have to leave it in the back of the cupboard until you want to make salad dressing, or sprinkle it on your chips! Use it every day around the house. 1. Add a couple of tablespoons of vinegar (any vinegar) to half a bucket of warm water. Use to wash metal surfaces, like the chrome trim on your car. It gleams! 2. Dilute as above and use to clean mirrors, windows and hard surfaces in kitchen and bathroom. 3. If you have a small scratch on a piece of wooden furniture you can often blend it in by rubbing with neat vinegar. 4. Brighten the colour of old carpets by rubbing with a solution of vinegar andwater. 5. Use neat to lift ink stains from fabric. 6. Apply with a soft cloth to brassware and watch it shine. You can also add a couple of tablespoons to warm water and wash really dirty brassware in it. 7. Ever had a lump of chewing gum, picked up on the street, stuck firmly to the sole of your shoe? Vinegar will soften this and make it easier to remove. 8. A teaspoon of vinegar in half a tumbler of warm water, used as a gargle, eases the pain of sore throats. Vinegar also has a mildly antiseptic property. 9. Add a teaspoon of vinegar to the rinse water when washing your hair, if you are prone to dandruff. 10. My favourite and the one I find most useful. Put a tablespoon of honey, and a teaspoon of vinegar into a glass, and top up with hot water. This is an excellent, soothing treatment for coughs and colds. I prefer to use cider vinegar for this but you can use any kind. I have tried and tested all the suggestions above and found them to be effective (and cheap!) As for the other two hundred and ninety uses, you'll find them on the web if you search on &
#39;vinegar', but check them out carefully before you use them. I did find some rather bizaare ones out there. Vinegar used as an aphrodisiac was the one that amused me most. (I do have a cruel sense of humour!) The writer suggested that it is most effective applied neat to the appropriate parts. Ooo! My eyes are watering at the thought.
