Disadvantages: Eating them as they are simply yucky
**Walkers Baked Salt and Vinegar Crisps**
For some strange reason we had these baked crisps in the house instead of the usual walkers crisps (guess they must have been on offer). Two things drew me to these crisps which were 1) I like salt and vinegar crisps and 2) they are Walkers. Being Walkers crisps I thought I would be in for a nice treat. I'm not normally a crisps fan as more of a sweet addict but will occasionally eat the odd bag.
**The packet**
It's a nice packet and green with 2 big fat crinkle crisps a bottle of vinegar and a heap of salt. (No really it does look appealing) Next to the two traditional and crinkle cut crisps are the words Baked boldly written across the middle. That I sensed meant they were going to be a little bit healthier than the standard bag of crisps. Looking at the bag in tiny writing it does tell you 70% less fat but where did the other 30% go? It does entice you to open them though as the all important key info is underneath the fat content for this 25gram packet.
98 calories - (5%) not bad could walk that off
1.8g Sugar (2%) sugar in crisps I hear you say but if it keeps them sweet!
2.0g fat (3%) sounds good to me as us women are allowed 70g a day
0.3g saturates (2%) not bad again as us women allowed 20g a day
0.4 g salt (7%) oh that sounded high but I don't add salt to food so ill let it slip
Well the back of the packet told me I would munch my way through these and be transported on a sea holiday (wow I thought). They are oven baked not once but twice you know and that gives them an exceptional taste sounds better ummmmm. No rip em open and whiff the smell and hear the sea-really I thought all in 1 bag of walkers crisps!
Before I opened I also noticed they had no MSG (now I have heard of that) as if I eat Chinese I get a banging head from this so that was good. No preservatives, no artificial colours, suitable for vegetarians and suitable for coeliacs. Well walkers were certainly pushing the boat out here to tick all the right boxes.
**Opening the packet**
Well I excitedly opened the packed and tried to whiff the taste of the sea but all I got was a smell of crisps that strangely smelt more like sour cream and cheese than salt and vinegar. Then to my horror I could count the amount of crisps on my two hands the tight monkeys only about a dozen in the pack. That is not value for money now is it.
**The taste**
Well there isn't much to taste as a few crunchie munchies and they were undercooked. Not a chip off the Mc Coys crinkle cut. The taste was weak but left a winey vinegary after taste (eww). They also left a salt feeling in your fingers. These were not moresish but I had to eat the packet as only a dozen in it anyway. These were substandard crisps to say the least. I don't know what I was expecting eating these but they were half baked! I love my walkers but not these im afraid as they were simply tasteless. If you lick your lips after you still get the awful after taste. I need a good drink to flush the taste away!
**Would I recommend?**
Not on your Nelly! Unless you are on a diet that means you have no taste buds then avoid like the plague. Sorry Mr Walker but these were pants!
**Cost**
You can get a 6 pack of these in Tesco for 1.36or two fro 2.50 but we had a 12 pack variety pack. If I'm feeling brave I might try some of the other flavours.
(If you disagree with me thats ok too as I know some people like these!)
Summary: I,m Sorry Mr Walker but these Crisps are Half Baked!
