Advantages: Flavoursome, fun name.
Disadvantages: Maybe there is something missing?
This is one of the latest flavours from 'Walkers' as part of a campaign for a new addition to the product line where consumers can vote for their favourite flavour.
'Cajun Squirrel'?! What? Squirrel? I do hope no squirrels were harmed in the making of these crisps. I'm not entirely sure why these crisps are called 'Cajun Squirrel', well the Cajun is obvious but not the squirrel. It's a great addition to the campaign however because it's fun for the kids and maybe opens them up to a new flavour. I'm sure the kids will be voting for the Squirrel!
I could guess what I was about to taste when I opened the packet, and hoped that they hadn't messed this flavour up. It seems more trivial to create compared to the others because it's just the one flavour, and luckily it tasted great! The Cajun was prominent and really tickled those taste buds. It was too spicy, as some Cajun variations can be, just good typical Cajun. In comparison to the other flavours however maybe they could have been a bit more inventive? Yes the name is, but this flavour isn't so. Though I can't decide what it would go well with, I feel there is certainly something missing.
I bought this packet along with the other five flavours in the campaign:
- Builder's Breakfast
- Chilli & Chocolate
- Crispy Duck & Hoisin
- Fish & Chips
- Onion Bharji
The pack of six, offering two packets of three flavours was on offer from my local Somerfield at a 'Buy one get one free' deal for £1 a pack.
This is a great flavour, and if it wins I wouldn't be so bothered because I may consider buying it in the future. This is in fact my Dad's favourite, so if you haven't tired it, don't be afraid to, it is really quite good. If you agree, you can vote for free by texting "CAJUN" to 51199.
Summary: One of the campaign flavours from Walkers, though this doesn't get my vote, it's still good.
