Advantages: Tasty, Good Quality, Nutritionally Sound

Disadvantages: Expensive

We picked up a couple of multipacks of Doritos on offer this week, so obviously I've been munching my way through a few bags. The usual retail price is around 50p for an individual bag, or £1.50 for a multipack of six individual bags from the supermarket.

I have to admit that the Cool Original Flavour aren't my first choice when it comes to choosing a Doritos flavour. Chilli Heatwave are my faves in fact. But tonight I fancied something a little bit different, and also, let's be honest, I didn't want to get in trouble for eating all of the Chilli packets...

You might assume that these are just plain tortilla chip crisps, but actually they do have a little bit of a flavour. When you bite into one of these, the first thing that hits is the strong corn flavour. Then as you chew them up, you get a real buttery flavour coming through along with a dash of salt. These are plain compared to the flavours, but they're not void of taste by any means. They're just exceptionally mild, hence the name 'Cool Original'.

The quality of Doritos in general is always very good, with the Cool Original flavour being no exception to that. These snacks are always in top condition, with very few winging there way to you broken or in any way discoloured. Obviously these go through thorough quality control checks.

The nutritional side of things is surprisingly okay. A 30g packet from a multipack will set you back 150 calories with 1.2g of sugar, 0.6g of salt and 8g of fat (most of which is mono-unsaturated). There are even 2g of protein in a packet of these. So these are a snack you can happily munch away on without worrying that they're going to lead to a coronary any time soon. Unless you dip them in mayo that is...

Summary: Highly Recommended
