Advantages: Wheat free and tasty
Disadvantages: Have to buy the dip seperately
These doritos come in a big bag of 200g, the design on the packing is mainly black with the logo 'Doritos' written in white in a triangular shape. The back of the pack is yellow with all the usual nutritional information on there.
The picture on the front of the pack is not suprisingly...a picture of a dorito being dipped into a salsa.
The doritos themselves are a triangle shape..as im sure you know and they are a pale yellowish colour, they have a very distinct pattern to them which i suspect is from when they are being cooked as it is like patches of a darker, almost brown colour on the crisp.
They have a distinct tast, you can really taste the corn and they have just a hint of salt. The crisps are plain so that they dont over power the dip which is brilliant.
The range of dips are ever growing, a few are:
1. Cool chive and sour cream - my favourite!
2. Mild salsa - tasty and bearable hotness!
3. Hot salsa - too hot for me...i dont like hot or spicy foods!
Doritos can tend to taste quite dry..obviouslynot as bad as crackers but i do tend to need a drink with them so the dips come in handy..they aren't watery but they get the mouth wet! I dont like it when dips are puried down into soup! So these are good as they have chunks!
There are 173 calories per 35g bag of crisp which is pretty average. The 200g bags are designed for sharing but i find it hard to share these treats! The large bag costs just over a pound and the dips around £1.35. Its a shame you cant get them together on a deal!
Doritos have now brought out new flavours of the crisp such as....hint of chilli, hint of lime and tangy salsa. These are nice but i prefer the lightly salted ones as you can really
taste the flavour of the dip.
Summary: The main ingredients are white corn, salt and vegatable oil
