Advantages: I'm no longer the only one that hasn't tried them

Disadvantages: Quite vinegary

The idea behind these crazy flavoured crisps -

These Fish and Chips flavoured crisps are 1 of 6 new flavours as part of Walkers "Do us a flavour" campaign. The idea of this campaign is to introduce these 6 new flavours as previously suggested by the great British public, we then try them all, and vote for our favourite flavour either online at www.walkers.co.uk, or you can text in your vote free of charge to 51199. The voting closes on 1st May 2009.

I have read a few reviews of these various flavoured crisps and wasn't sure if I should try them, as most of the reviews have said how disappointing they were. So when I was in my local Tesco Express yesterday they had a special offer on these at the till point so I thought, why not. The offer was buy 2 bags of these "do me a flavour" crisps for 90p. I chose The fish and chips ones and the crispy duck and Hoisin (I'll try these later probably).

The Crisps -
**********
When I opened the bag, I got an overwhelming smell of fish, Impressive. I tasted one and they tasted completely different to what the smell had suggested. The flavour was actually quite vinegary. I had to look back at the packet. The only place it mentions vinegar is a tiny bit on the back that says "with a vinegary hint". In my oninion it was a little more than a hint, it overpowered the fish a lot and the chips even more so.

Value for money
*************
At 90p for 2 bags each containing 46g. It's not too bad value for money, but I'm glad I didn't pay more. Each pack size is quite large in comparison to other crisps of this price. The appearance was of the usual Walker's Crisps high standard. I would not go out of my way to buy these crisps again but if they were in a multipack, I'd eat them (I disagree with wasting food, plus I can't afford to).

My Opinion -
**********
I was not too impressed with the flavour of these crisps, But I'm glad I tried them. Would I recommend them? Well I'd say give them a go, they are not that bad.

Each 46g pack contains -
********************
240 Calories
0.6g Sugar
15.0g Fat
1.1g Saturates
0.61g Salt

According to the bag, they are suitable for Vegetarians and Coeliacs.

Summary: Give them a try, everyone's talking about them.

Trying to avoid crisps at the moment. These new flavours are certainly a marketing success. :o)
