Advantages: Ok, nice fishy taste

Disadvantages: Not that different than other flavours

A Legendary Flavour.

Walkers Crisps are polling the Great British people to try and find the next flavour of crisps. A few months back they asked for people to submit flavour combinations to them in hopes of it becoming the next Walkers flavour. They have now shortlisted six flavours which they have produced but only one will survive and it's up to us to decide which one it is.
The six flavours that they have brought out for a limited time are:

Fish and Chips
Builder's Breakfast
Cajun Squirrel
Chilli and Chocolate
Crispy Duck and Hoisin
Onion Bhaji

Once you have tried the flavours and have a favourite you can then vote to make sure they keep the one you like best. There are various ways to vote. You can either go on line, text your vote, Facebook your vote or e-mail your vote. Apparently, the person who came up with the flavour that wins will get £50,000 and 1% of the future sales of their flavour, not bad! The runners up will each get £10,000 too!

In the spirit of competition I decided to take it up on myself to try the flavours so I could be part of the experiment. This morning in my local Tesco's they only had Fish and Chips and Crispy Duck left. This could either mean no-one likes these flavours and they were the only ones left on the shelf or they are so popular that they are the only ones the supermarket will stock. We'll soon find out but for the mean time I will firstly review the Fish and Chips flavour.

When you open the bag you are hit immediately with a very fishy smell, not unpleasant, just fishy. The taste though is not as Fishy as the smell which is nice because I think it could have been too overpowering if it was. I find the flavour quite tangy actually, as if there was a bit of vinegar on the chips portion but not the same taste as a salt and vinegar. They almost have a bit of a scampi taste to them which was nice.

The Walkers quality was just the same as always, very good, lovely crunchy crisps with a nice potatoey flavour. I have to say this flavour didn't set my world on fire, ie they were good but sort of tasted like some of Walker's other flavours and wasn't particularly different enough in my opinion to warrant being a new flavour.

The bag has a burnt orange colour trim to it, I suppose to signify the colour of fish and chips. This flavour was recommended by Jane from Sheffield. On the front of the bag there is a picture of a fish and chip shop and a man behind the counter serving up a portion wrapped up in a paper bag and given to a woman customer. This is said to be Jane's inspiration for her fish and chip flavour. On their website, Walkers describe the fish and chips flavour like this:

"Where would we be without out beloved battered fish and chirpy chips? Always in the papers, this legendary taste combo is perfect in a rainy bus shelter or on a wind swept beach - Fish and Chips - a match made in heaven."

The bag I bought was 46g. In it there were 240 calories and 15g of fat!!!! This was quite a lot in my opinion.

I do agree that Fish and Chips is a legendary flavour and a very traditional British flavour but I'm not 100% sold so onto the next flavour!
