Advantages: None

Disadvantages: The smell is horrible

Walkers a very well known brand of crisps, sp when I saw the new flavours including hoisin duck, Cajun squirrel and others, including fish and chips, I decided to be brave. (Not that brave, I wasn't going to sample Cajun squirrel.)

I expected the flavour to be rather like those little fish and chip shaped biscuits you used to get. They had a kind of salt and vinegary taste and the only fishy thing about them was their shape.

When I first opened the bag of Walkers Fish and Chip crisps, I really could have gagged. The smell of fish literally hit me and put me right off. I am not a lover of fish unless it is very fresh and covered in batter so that pungent smell put me right of.

I did attempt to taste one but I couldn't. The whole lot went in the bin. They should have been called 'Fishmonger Crisps' because they smell more like a fishmongers stall.

I paid 58p for this 25g bag of smelly crisps but I was just grateful that I hadn't bought the six pack.

With 8.9g of fat and 133 calories perhaps I was better off without them anyway. I certain would not recommend these to anyone and I would not buy them again. I can't honestly see them appealing to a huge number of people because of their smell.

These are part of the competition that Walkers ran to find a new flavour. They selected six and then did a sampling project to get feedback from the public. The trouble is that while other companies hand out free samples as testers, Walkers sold their test products to us, or attempted to. Anyway, that is a separate discussion.

Summary: Not fish and chip flavour, more like fishmonger flavour.
