Advantages: taste good, addictive, not too pricey

Disadvantages: -

I am usually someone who goes shopping with a very precise list and doesn't really like to mix it up or it will confuse me on if I'm overspending or not. However a lot of us students don't seem to know what to buy to keep healthy or to survive on but I am slowly learning but you can't blame me for wanting the odd unhealthy things like crisps and chocolate which of course I do like to buy every so often. This week on my food shop I had a bit more money, so I decided that I would buy some things that are a bit more pricey than usual but things I love since it is Christmas the time of giving and who better to give to than....myself. The thing I picked out this week was Walkers Tomato Ketchup crisps because it had just been too long since I had had them.

Henry Walker was a pork butcher who did very well for himself and he moved to Leicester in the 1880's to take over a high street business. Henry and his son sold good meat and the business did well so they moved in 1912. In World War 2 meat was really highly rationed and in the 1940's the Walker's shop would sell out by as early as 10am. Henry considered how he could do better with the place he had since his factory was working with half the usual staff. They thought about ice cream but brought up the issue of hygiene problems but then they came up with the idea of potato crisps. The business then grew and now they are doing as good as they ever have.

So, a normal bag of these crisps following the Walker's colour coding is a burgundy, tomato like colour. It is similar to that of Smoky bacon flavour but a bit more red. There are a few crisps on the front and the Walkers logo. The Heinz Ketchup logo is also added to the bag and in black lettering it says 'Tomato Ketchup' and there are green bands at the top and bottom. I bought a 25g bag, the back of the bag gives information on how good the potatoes are that they use for the crisps and all of the nutritional information. It also lists contact information if you need to make any complaints and so on.

As soon as I open up a bag of these crisps I am hit with a faint smell of tomato but also potato. The crisps look like your usual crisps ovals of potato cooked to give a golden colour. They also have a reddish grain on them which will clearly be the flavouring for the crisps. The crisps are crunchy and they taste great, you can really taste the tomato flavouring and it is pretty much as good as Heinz Ketchup. They are so addictive and not too strong with the flavouring but just right. These are by far my favourite walkers crisps and I remember when they first came out I wasn't sure if I'd like them as they were a bit of a trial but obviously they were that successful now that they are an official flavour.

These crisps I would recommend to anyone who loves tomatoes or tomato ketchup definitely. Also anyone who loves Walker's crisps as they all have that great potato taste. I'd say after having a bag of these they usually keep me full for a good few hours as they are quite filling snack compare to some other crisps which I have eaten.

These crisps can be bought in all supermarkets, I tend to buy multipacks most of the time because I feel these last longer and usually work out so much cheaper. In Asda I bought a bag of 6 packets and that cost me roughly 98p which I thought was really good. Although, if you just want to buy them separately it will usually cost you something like 35p for a packet which is ok but if you buy a lot it becomes expensive.
