~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Walkers Max Paprika flavoured crisps come in a largely orange-coloured bag, with the standard Walkers logo and an image of a huge ridged potato crisp on the front. The rear of the pack contains nutritional information, ingredients list, quality claims from Walkers, and their contact details.
I have been a massive fan of these crisps ever since they hit the shelves of our shops some years ago. The crisps inside the bag are a golden-yellow, sprinkled with a dark orange-coloured paprika coating, and they have deep ridges. Most of the crisps seem fairly large-sized, and I assume that if a pack is bought where it is found they are broken into little pieces, that could have more to do with transportation and storage than Walkers deliberately (or carelessly!) producing tiny crisps.
On opening the bag, there is a faint smell of paprika which wafts gently upwards, and to delicately lift a crisp out between two fingers, place inside the mouth and crunch down firmly, is (in my opinion) an experience which is closer to paradise than a lot of other things in life manage to achieve.
Though the salt content of the whole bag is on the high side, the salty flavour is quite mild - it has to be for me, as I really don't like salty food, and the crunch-factor is superb. The crisps are substantial in themselves, though I would prefer to see a few more in each packet - it seems to me that the bags are less than two-thirds full of crisps, the remainder being air.
As a great fan of paprika, I have tried many other paprika-flavoured crisp products, and to me Walkers are by far the best. The flavour is rich and spicy, without being sweet, and the amount of paprika used is generous.
Though the overall size of the crisps is large, I always do manage to find a few stray small bits and crumbs at the bottom of the bag, and in the spirit of waste not want not, I tip the bag up to my mouth and "drink" the little bits. Some of these little bits at the bottom can be a tad greasy, but for me not unpleasantly so....I'd describe it more accurately as oily.
Walkers Max Paprika are for me, streets ahead of all other brands of paprika-flavoured crisp products, and are my favourite flavour out of their own range. I'm not sure if they are worth 45p for a pack that isn't as full as it should be, but that's how much we have to pay for crisps in general these days.
If you love the taste of paprika, I'm sure you'd adore these crisps.....but of course if paprika isn't your thing, then it's probably wise to give them a miss. Watch out for the paprika coating though, as it turns your fingers temporarily orange.
Walkers can carry on making their paprika flavoured crisps for as long as I live, and I'll always be a dedicated follower. I award full marks for the most delicious crisps on the market. High in fat, calories and a touch on the evil side as regards salt, but....hey, life's for living! Have some fun!
Thanks for reading!
Summary: My absolute no.1 favourite crisps
