Advantages: Tasty
Disadvantages: Unhealthy
Most people love crisps but that depends on the quality of the crisp. Walkers and McCoy's are known for being the two best crisp makers for the U.K, I like them both but I have to say that Walkers Sensations are one of my favourite ranges. Walkers Sensations Lime & Coriander Chutney Poppadoms are one of my favourites. I like my crisps to have a lot of flavour as it makes them more interesting and these have a lot of flavour.
I bought this bag mainly because it is currently on offer at Tesco, normally a 90g bag will set you back buy £1.48 but until the 16/09/2008 you can get 3 for £3.50 which I a saving f almost a pound o I just had to garb three bags. Don't worry I didn't eat them all at once, 1 of the bags is still in the cupboard but my husband & I have happily munched our way through the other bags together, they are great fir eating whilst you're watching television or a film.
They bag they come in is rather different to the other crisps in the Sensations range which tend to be white with a picture in the middle. This bag is purple with an almost oblong shape in the middle on which there are pictures of limes, coriander and poppadoms, these pictures continue in a straight line from the bottom to the top of the page which is great as it means you won't get the bag muddled up with another flavour. It also says "New Bigger Bag Better To Share" so remember you shouldn't be thinking of eating all 90gs to yourself at once! On the back of the bag are the ingredients and the nutritional information. The bag is made of the usual foil that you get with crisp packets.
I won't bore you with a list of ingredients but I will tell you that these are suitable for coeliacs and vegetarians so that's good news. Now for the bad news, Walkers recommend that each portion is 18g! That's just plain ridiculous I think, well maybe I'm a pig I don't know. I honestly don't think that anybody is going to stick to eating just an 18g serving though which is bad news as 18g contains:
84 Calories
4g of Fat
1g of which Saturates
0.5g of Sugar
0.6g of Salt
As you can see they really aren't too healthy, the salt is extremely high and the fat isn't much better so try not to eat too many too often. Inside they look like tiny poppadoms which is a good sign as that's what it says they are on the packet, not crisps but poppadoms. They smell quite strongly of lime and coriander, this is good and what I would expect as Sensations normally make really nice smelling snacks which is part of the reason why I like them.
When you bite these they crunch but they melt in your mouth which is really plesant. The initial taste is of spices and it's pretty strong so maybe this isn't for people who don't like spicy things and then you get a taste or lime which is also strong but the two flavours balance each other out and create a wonderful overall taste that's a real treat for your taste buds.
Overall I think that these poppadoms are a great snack and definitely worth every penny even when they come off offer I will be buying them again. I recommend them to anybody who likes the taste of something a bit different to just eating crisps all the time. They taste amazing and are really addictive. 10 out of 10.
Summary: Great as a snack every now and then
