Advantages: Lovely taste
Disadvantages: A bit pricey for the amount you get
Crisps are one of my favourite snacks and think Walkers have produced some of the best crisps around with their Sensations range. A couple of years ago I was obsessed with the ordinary Lime Sensations crisps and thought it was a delicious and original flavour. So when they brought these Lime and Coriander mini poppadoms out I just had to try them. And it's fair to say I fell in love =)
The packaging of these poppadoms is eye catching and attractive. All of the packets in the Sensations range have been re-styled recently and now feature a stylish and distinctive 'S' on each bag of crisps. The background of these poppadoms is a pretty purple and it's 'S' is green, decorated with juicy looking limes, coriander leaves as well as some butterflies and oriental style patterns.
As soon as you open the bag you will be almost salivating at the aroma of the poppadoms - you get a beautiful scent of sweet limes mixed with spiciness. The texture of these poppadoms is also wonderful. They are light, airy and are just the right mixture of softness and crunchiness. When you put them in your mouth and hold them on your tongue they literally melt in your mouth. They are not as thick as normal crisps and they don't feel as 'heavy' in your stomach if you eat too many.
The flavour of the poppadoms is fantastic and all of the the ingredients compliment each other perfectly. The freshness of the coriander sets off the sweetness and zestiness of the lime wonderfully. There is a hint of curry flavour with just the right amount of spice. I love the fact that there is not too much of one particular flavour in these poppadoms and there is no one overpowering taste - just a perfect mix.
The texture of the poppadoms and the fresh/spicy taste of them means they are very moreish. It is very easy to get through a whole bag to yourself if you are not careful. It's hard to only have just a handful of these and once you get a taste of the flavour of them you just want to keep eating and eating! If this does happen, it's worthwhile to know the nutritional information! There's about 170 calories and 9g of fat in half a bag. So, they work out pretty well compared to other crisps and snacks of this kind.
Unfortunately these poppadoms are not particulary cheap and, in Tesco, normally cost £1.49. Each bag weighs 82.5g which is quite a lot less than normal crisps. This is largely due to the fact that they are much lighter but you don't really get that many in a bag - I think they could definately chuck a few more in! However, they seem to be on special offer in Tescos quite often. At the moment they are half price until 9th June so stock up now.
These poppadoms are just gorgeous and I could eat them everyday and not get bored. They are brilliant for sharing with someone whilst watching a film or make fantastic little snacks at parties. They would also be a great accompaniment to a variety of Asian meals. They are quite pricey if you don't get then on special offer but the taste is more than worth it.
Summary: Go get some, especially while they are half price
