Advantages: taste
Disadvantages: bit up themselves
Somewhere along the line (possibly with the invention of Pringles), the crisp market developed a new outlet: big bags! These days, pretty much every variety is available in 150g bags, pretty much 3 times the size of a standard 40g bag. These allow crisp manufacters to charge more for their crisps, and it has allowed Walkers to release their induglent sensations range.
As someone else has rightly said, these are posh crisps. The best price you'll get them for is £1 a pack when they're on offer, and they are worth every penny. Just take a look at some of the flavours and you'll see just how over the top they are:
Vintage Cheddar & Red Onion Chutney;
Oven Roasted Chicken with Lemon & Thyme;
Slow Roasted Lamb with Moroccan Spices;
Gently Infused Lime & Thai Spices;Thai Sweet Chilli.
Whatever you think, they are really nice. They've gone over the top trying to make them look posh, but that doesn't mean they're not nice.
As a rule, they are more sumptuous, and more crispy than usual ones. This means the have more crunch to them, and are more substantial. They don't feel like wafer thin crips, but little snacks in their own right.
The flavours are hit or miss, but on the whole are lovely. The brave choices surprise your taste-buds, and they're a long way from the old-school of prawn cocktail and the like.
Obviously, they're still full of fat, and should only be eaten in moderation, which brings me nicely to my final point which is that you can actually buy the above flavours in 40g bags too.
All in all, they're a bit above their station in terms of marketting, but do offer some interesting alternatives to the otherwise dull crisp market.
Summary: do it
