Advantages: None.
Disadvantages: Taste and smell.
I had an accident! I went to grab a bag of Walkers Prawn Cocktail crisps and there are so many varities of crisps in my house I opened them to find they wernt my all time favs they were bacon! The packets looks almost the same to me in a dim light! I haven't had bacon in ages! It was a bit of a shock when the taste hit my taste buds and a bit of a dissapointment too lol
The Packet....(Multi bag 25g)
Tin foil bag burgundy in colour. Cleary states the brand and that they are indeed Smoky Bacon Crisps made with sunseed oil and on the bottom of the packet tells me not for resale as they are out of a multi pack. On the back I'm told a little bit about potatoes, a nutritional table, ingredients, contact numbers for Walker's and best before date.
Verdict....
Well as I mentioned I wasnt expecting this flavour! Crisps looked golden and not too highly coloured but for a few flecks of orange scattered evenly. The crisps looked good quality i.e I had no bad ones at all and I've noticed with some other flavours lately that I'm seeing more and more Walker's crisps that have black bits on the outer edges of my crisps and that looks not pleasant!
The smell as you open the bag is identifiable as bacon there is no doubt! However the first thing to hit your tongue is salt and plenty of it. Then the bacon. The bacon although smelling of bacon tastes like 'fake' bacon. If you've ever eaten vegetarian 'bacon' then this to me is very like that and after all these are suitable for vegetarians! The more you eat the more salt you get and with the faky bacon taste to me it starts to make me feel sick and the smell becomes to much. Also I feel they are too heavily sweetened but again its not till your halfway down the bag your tastebuds tell you this.
I will say they wern't too greasy and they were very 'crispy' and light and again I have noticed particualry with the plain variety of Walker's lately that they are very greasy and that some of the crisps do look a bit to heavy and that some are translucent in appearance, these are not. They do make hands greasy and smelly though, and me I got incredibly thirsty after eating some and gave most to my Step Dad before finding a packet of another flavour lol
All in all, my tastebuds are mine and I found that them vile the more I ate! Salty, sugary and smelly! Not for me. Also I'm annoyed in general that Walker's crisps weights seem to be all wrong and some bags really are lighter than others but on this occasion I shall really let them off lol
