Advantages: Moorish

Disadvantages: Loads of Cals

I am a big fan of many types of crisps, and Walkers 'Sensations' are one of my favourites. In the Sensations range, flavours include; Chargrilled Steak & Pepper Sauce, Four Cheese & Onion, Oven Roast Chicken & Thyme, Roast Lamb & Mint Sauce, Roasted Onion & Balsamic Vinegar, Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper and Thai Sweet Chilli. The Thai Sweet Chilli variety (which I am reviewing here), comes in both 40g and 175g packets. The larger of the two sizes, which is specifically designated as a 'share pack', costs £1.45 from Tesco.

The unusual thing about this particular variety is that the flavour can greatly differ from pack to pack - sometimes they have been known to be very hot, and at other times they have been quite mild. I think that I prefer them when they are a bit milder, as when eating a number of the hot ones, my tongue and the corner of my mouth gets sore quickly! Whether Spicy or mild, these crisps have a lovely flavour, and it's easy to keep eating and eating.

Sensations pride themselves on using real ingredients in their crisps, and this results in some authentic flavours. In fact, the downside to these crisps is that they are a bit too nice, and I have no problem demolishing the share size bag by myself. However, don't be fooled into thinking that 'real ingredients' means 'healthy ingredients', as there are plenty of dodgy ingredients like monosodium glutomate in these crisps.

The full list of ingredients are as follows: Potatoes, Sunflower Oil (27%), Thai Sweet Chilli Flavour (Sugar, Lactose (From Milk), Rusk (From Wheat), Buttermilk Powder, Flavour Enhancer (Monosodium Glutamate, Disodium 5'-ribonucleotide), Tomato Granules, Onion Powder, Hydrolysed Soya Protein, Garlic Powder, Soy Sauce Powder, Wheat, Herbs, Basil Extract, Red Pepper Oil, Flavourings, Chilli Powder, Color (Paprika Extract), Salt, and Firming Agent.

Walkers claim that by using 'SunSeed Oil', Sensations have 60% percent less fat then they did in 2006. Whilst this undoubtedly makes them healthier, Crisps are still high in fat and salt content.

In conclusion, Walkers Thai Sweet Chilli Sensations are delicious, but perhaps not as nice as my favourite flavour in the range - Roast Lamb & Mint Sauce. The crisps are usually on offer in Tesco, and this particular variety will often find its way into the shopping basket - beware though, eating an entire share pack comes to just under 1000 calories - you have been warned!

Summary: Tasty!
