Advantages: creamy, rich chocolate

Disadvantages: cost at times

In the summer months when the temperatures start to rise, it's always nice to reach for ice cream and have something refreshing to help cool me down. I would say my favourite ice cream brand was Ben & Jerry's but on the hot days it's the last thing I want to reach for. I do like a fruity ice lolly like a Solero but lately I have been buying multipacks of Magnum more as they have been on offer. I always have loved them but they cost a lot at about £1.40 per ice cream but in multipacks they are always in the freezer that way and the range is broadening all of the time which is always interesting. I like how they have mini ranges also which make them smaller and appetising for a smaller chill. My favourite Magnum apart from Almond is the White as it is unusual but it is creamy and refreshing.

Walls ice reams like Magnum are under the wide Unilever group. Started up in Cornwall, Wall's have been making ice cream for about 80 plus years now as they have been going since the Second World War. Their products are also sold worldwide in about 40 countries and their range broadens all of the time with classics like Twisters, Calippo's, Mini Milks and so on. They are a well recognised ice cream brand that even abroad you know you can trust when you see a familiar logo.

The packaging of the Magnum White is quite distinct compared to other Magnum's you can tell their flavour by their packaging. It comes in a lightly yellow tinted creamy box. On the front it has the Magnum logo to distinguish the brand and the 'M' logo mark which features on all of the actual ice creams in the chocolate, like a stamp. Then there is a picture of the actual product bitten into so that you can see the ice cream, they make the product look good on the cover. The text all swirls almost around the image in quite a soft display and they state that there are three ice creams per box. Inside all are individually wrapped in foil wrappers with a golden tint to them.

In terms of healthy value on these ice creams, well it was obvious they were never going to be low in calories and good for you sadly, although there is a Magnum light. In terms of the nutritional information per ice cream, calories per ice cream is 260 which is 13% of the daily allowance, 25g of sugar which is quite high again 28% of the daily allocated, 16g of fat. Although it is quite high and if you are on the Weight Watchers diet that works out at 6 and a half points per ice cream. It is a lot but it's a treat because no one eats Magnum's every day it is more of a luxury as they are advertised on an image of sophistication.

The one thing that I love most about Magnum ice cream is the chocolate, it tastes so sweet and creamy and the crack of chocolate as you pierce into it with your teeth almost echoes like the adverts used to emphasise on. It is a rich layer on top of the creamy vanilla ice cream inside. It is quite thick ice cream but it fills me up and it cools me down on a hot day leaving me feeling satisfied.

So, if this has tempted you to cool down with a Magnum ice cream the next thing you need to know is exactly where you can buy these! Well, most small supermarkets will stock these individually for about £1.40 as I stated previously. However, if you want a box of three like I purchased myself then your bigger supermarkets are your best bet. Tesco are selling a box for £1.88 which is quite pricey but sadly last week they were only 99p, hopefully the offer comes on and off over summer. £1.88 is still better value for money when you consider the individual RRP. Asda at the minute is probably the best option as they are doing 2 for £3 on the Magnum multipacks White and Classic. They are also doing a deal on Magnum Minis so they are £2 but they don't feature the White.

If you want to find out more product information on Magnum whether it be their history, contact information or details on the White Magnum then go to their website located at http://www.mymagnum.co.uk/#/world_of_pleasure . The website is slightly annoying in terms of sound and speed so as soon as you get here click 'Magnum Products' this will take you to the real page with all pictures of the products in the range and there you can easily navigate.

To sum up Mangum ice creams and their products they are basically for anyone looking for a sweet, creamy way to chill down and for a more sophisticated and rich ice cream.
