Advantages: The taste! Easily avaliable
Disadvantages: The calories and price
~*~ Magnum white ~*~
I don't think any of us have been able to believe the amazingly hot summer we have had so far, and it's only early July! Saying that though, it's unlikely to last, so I say make the most of the weather and enjoy your ice creams while you can because no doubt the rain will be back upon us soon....
I'm a big ice cream girl. I'm not really one for crisps and cakes and things, but ice cream and chocolate (preferably combined!) are possibly two of my favourite things in the world, even just reviewing them makes me happy! (Sad?!)
~*~ The range ~*~
So I suppose most of you know this, but anyway, Magnum are a brand of ice-cream made by the well known company Walls. The range consists of old favourites such as Magnum milk, dark, white and almond as well as a whole new range which includes Magnum minis, mint and the new 'Temptation' - temptation chocolate and temptation caramel almond. Amazing, but we'll save that for another review!
~*~ The product ~*~
Magnum white claims to be "perfection for worshippers of white chocolate". These ice creams contain rich vanilla ice cream, "smothered in sweet, creamy, decadent white chocolate." My mouth is watering already...
On opening the wrapper (which itself just screams luxury) you are faced with an oval white chocolate lolly. The chocolate is thick and creamy, and makes that lovely cracking noise on first bite. The ice cream inside is, indeed, sweet and creamy, and melts perfectly in the mouth for a mouthwatering ice cream experience. Perfect for cooling down on a hot summers day.
~*~ The nutritional info ~*~
Each 120ml ice cream contains 260 calories, which is the equivalent of a mars bar. Quite a lot, but OK for a treat. Each only also contains 25g of sugar (25% of your RDA) and 23g of fat.
~*~ The price ~*~
Expect to pay around £1.20 for one of these in a newsagent or from an ice-cream van.
Tesco are currently selling these at £1.88 for a pack of three, Asda £1.60 or two packs of 3 for £3 (including a large range of other ice creams) which is what I tend to go for. Not bad as far as desserts go, but not the cheapest on offer.
~*~ The verdict ~*~
Magnum whites are one of my favourite packaged ice creams, and I can never resist one if offered, and I'm usually really good with this! They are readily avaliable, even on holiday, and are the perfect way to treat yourself on a hot summers day.
The one thing I will admit is that, although these ice creams are good, the own brand Tesco and Asda versions are almost as good and almost half the price.
Will definitely be buying again!
Summary: A good ice cream!
