I'd seen two new Magnum's advertised recently - Chocolate and Caramel and Almonds Magnum Temptations which are the new 2009 range of the popular ice-cream lolly - and was keen to taste them. Hearing the bells of 'Greensleeves' ringing out from an ice-cream van the other day I rushed out and asked about the Magnums. The vendor told me these other kind were the newest Magnum they stocked and shoved two of these Magnum Mayan Mystica's into my hand. Mayan Mystica's were actually new in 2008 and were launched with an advertising campaign starring Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria. I remember the sexy advert but the description of the ice-cream never really appealed ... Read the complete review

It is summer! Well, we have had more than two days of sunshine in a row - that has to be some sort of record, doesn't it?! So, as summer is here, and I have bared my winter white legs for the first time, it is more than appropriate to be eating ice cream, and as summer is such a rarity, I am going to treat myself to good quality ice cream, rather than the value version.....so Magnums it is! Magnums have been around a few years now, an upmarket version of the humble choc ice......sort of a big choc ice on a stick, at a big price. Individual Magnums frequently cost in the region of £1.50, even more at some places. But they are generally worth it - ... Read the complete review

These ice creams are proper rank and I didn't like them at all. They are by Magnum and are called Mayan Mystica and that's a proper pretentious name anyway and doesn't reflect the ice cream at all I don't think. It's cinnamon flavour chocolate ice cream that has got a crispy chocolate coating. The thing is that the chocolate ice cream isn't very good like in usual Magnums and it's got a bit of a sticky feel as I eat it. My fave ice cream is Ben & Jerrys and compared to that this Magnum tastes proper cheap because it's too solid and not creamy or airy. The chocolate is quite dark and it cracks nice when you bite into it and melts good in my ... Read the complete review

I think I must be the only person in the world who doesn't generally enjoy a Magnum ice cream, I don't know what it is about them but I find the brand far too sickly to enjoy comfortably and very rarely buy them. However, my local grocer was selling packs of Magnum Mini's for the bargain price of 79p so I bought a packet of the new Mayan Mystica variety to try - knowing full well that if I didn't like them (as I probably wouldn't) then at least my granddaughters' would have something to munch on a little more sophisticated than Tesco Value Ice Lollies. The Mayan Mystica Magnum is basically chocolate ice cream with a rich crisp chocolate coating, which makes ... Read the complete review
