There I was, innocently strolling down the isle at Safeway, minding my own business when POW! There it was sitting in the freezers so unashamedly, just nestled between the Cadburys and the walls ice cream. I stood there for a couple of minutes just staring at this strangely shaped tub. It just seemed to beckon to me to take a closer look. I bent over to pick it up and investigate closer.

The tub was not the familiar flowerpot shape ice cream manufacturers seem to favour these days. No this was a crafty move indeed. The oval shaped tub was brown and red with the words "Magnum Uncovered" in big white letters.

It apparently had layer of thick chocolate that cracks to uncover smooth vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce and packed with chocolate pieces bursting with chocolate sauce. I looked at the price. It was on offer at an introductory price of £1.99. Normally priced at £2.95.
Well come on now. It was on special offer I did save my self-money and that's good isn?t it. (That's the guilt out of the way). The tub contains 450 ml.

When I got home and found sometime to my self. I took my find out of the freezer and opened the lid. What a sight was before me! Oooooo The very first thing to greet me was a solid layer of dark milk chocolate set right across the whole tub. It had set and dribbled all down the side's making a nice thick and crusty edge. I took my spoon and tapped it; it was set hard and quite firm.

It took me a couple of hard knocks with the spoon before the lovely rich brown layer finally gave in and cracked. The chocolate layer was almost ½ cm thick. Underneath peeping out at me was a white vanilla ice cream heavily rippled with dark chocolate sauce. I could see a lump just sticking out of the top of the ice c
ream. It looked a bit
like a chocolate button at first.

I picked up a piece of the chocolate with my fingers and put it in my mouth mmmm. It was crisp and delicious. It was the same taste as the chocolate coating of the Magnum ice-lolly. It was a slightly darker milk chocolate taste and it was quite sweet. It melted quite quickly in my mouth.

I then turned to the ice cream underneath. This had the unmistakable flavour of the Magnum with a lovely rich dark sauce. It was a definite a flavour of indulgence and luxury.

Mixed in with the ice cream were loads of chocolate button like things. They were almost the size of a five pence piece, not tiny little chocolate chips so small you can?t taste them. They were a sort of dome shape, I bit into one. It was filled with the same chocolate sauce that was rippled through the ice cream.

There was just so much chocolate. There were two different verities in the freezer at Safeway. The one I choose was called "Classic" The other one was "Chocolate" and said on the tub that it was rippled with caramel. This didn?t appeal to me as I find ice cream with caramel is often a little too sweet for me. I'm sure if they havent already they soon will have many different flavours. I do think this product will be successful.

Now my over all personal opinion of this product is this. Firstly I have to say my favourite ice cream is Cadbury's and my opinion on that has not changed. Oh the thought of Cadbury's ever bringing out a product like this is so mouth-watering. Imagine Cadburys ice cream with thick milk Cadbury's chocolate oh drools.

How ever it's not Cadbury's it 'Wall?s Magnum' and is almost as delicious but in my eyes not quite. Any lover of the Magnum I think would find their selves in heaven with this product as I think my family would have if I had saved them some (Don't bother, I don't care). I did think the ice
cream was a little bit gooey and the chocolate sauce was little too sweet but still very enjoyable.

I would buy this product again. It is different and delicious but can be a little sickly if you scoff the whole pot, but who cares.
