Advantages: lovely flavour & texture

Disadvantages: limited edition

I'm so pleased someone suggested this loaf to review - it is really good & there's just time to buy some of this 'Limited Edition' before Easter.

If you love your hot cross buns then I'm sure you'll like this Warburtons Hot Cross Bun Loaf. In my opinion each slice has bags more flavour & is much more moist than the average hcb.

The loaf is easy to find amongst the vast array of fruit loaves as it's bright yellow with a daffodil & the Warburton's logo. The loaf is packed in polythene & has one of those plastic tape packs to re-seal & to keep fresh & moist - unfortunately we didn't use it as each slice was devoured in only a few minutes.

The nutritional values & ingredients are listed if you are interested. I won't give you them all but basically it contains flour, fat, cinnamon, sultanas, mixed spice & currants. There's a generous amount of lovely moist sultanas & currants which blend delightfully with the loaf.

In moderation, if you ate a slice without butter (shame!) it would provide you with 94 calories & 1.3g of fat, so would still be OK for a treat if, like me, you are watching your weight?

Problem is ...... they are lovely with butter & it's difficult to stop at one slice!

They are also delicious toasted & are just the right size to pop into the toaster.

Have you seen Jamie Oliver's new recipe for Easter? He covers hot cross buns in custard & tops with marmade - sounds strange but bet it tastes good - I'm sure you could do the same dish using this loaf. In the meantime I'll just eat it straight fom the pack with butter but let me warn you it's very moreish!

Bad news I'm afraid - it may not suit everyone as it contains milk, egg, soya, whaet gluten, barley & sesame seeds - not good for those who suffer allergies.

Better news - unlike Soreen & other fruit loaves - it's not as dark in colour, sticky or messy & doesn't stick to the teeth!

summary
~
- a really nice change from regular hot cross buns.
- very tasty but moreish.
- contains lots of flavour & you can see & taste the texture of the raisins/ currants/sultanas.
- definitely worth a try in my opinion.

Summary: a lovely change from regular hot cross buns
