Advantages: Great Taste
Disadvantages: High salt content
I eat alot of bread! Probably way more than I should, but I can't help it, I love the stuff. Warburtons white medium sliced tends to be the one i go for. I have it for toast, sandwichs, and even just on its own sometimes. I think all round its my favorite white bread.
The bread has a really fresh feel and taste to it. The slices are quite thin which is good sometimes when this is what your after. Sometimes I do prefer a thicker slice, but generally am happy with this. I must have eaten thousands of these loaves over the years and have never had a bad one which shows how consistent Warburtons are!
The packaging has been the same for practically forever, its very easy to spot when your looking round the supermarket. It seems to keep the bread fresh, and it lasts for three or four days when I have bought it. Or sometimes I will freeze the bread and eat later on.
I know white bread is not all that healty, so here is what it contains. Each slice has 94 calories, 0.8 grams of fat and 0.46 grams of salt. That's 8% of your daily allowance for salt, which is quite alot I think!
A loaf of this bread will cost you £1.29 which tends to be about average for a slice of loaf of bread these days. That's at Tesco by the way. You can also buy a smaller loaf for 70p.
Warburtons also do thick sliced bread, brown bread, rolls, crumpets and all sorts. I like pretty much all of their products but think this medium sliced white bread is there best and is just a good all round classic loaf. Go and make yourself some butties!
Summary: Good all round loaf

- 23/06/09 I try to avoid white bread, I stick to fresh Ciabatta whenever I can. White bread from supermarkets lasts for ages, which in something fresh, is a bad sign. As well as salty, it is generally really bad for your insides...it doesnt pass smoothly, and slows and clags around the digestive tract, from an article I read once its also considered a in-direct but contributory factor to the increase of colon cancer in the western world. Yukk! |
