The past few weeks since i have rejoined Weightwatchers and am trying really hard to lose some weight, i have been looking everywhere for low fat versions of my favourite products. One product i last bought was Alpen Light Chocolate and Fudge Bars. They are made by popular cereal company Weetabix and are sold in packs of five bars with each bar being around 21 grams each in weight. I bought a few boxes of these in Asda as they were on offer for £1.25 for a box which i thought was an ok price for them. I used to eat loads of the normal Alpen bars so was excited to see if the Alpen Light bars were as nice. They come in a shiny and glossy ... Read the complete review

I have reviewed Kellogg's Nutri-Grain bars in the past as I am a fan of cereal bars. They are easy to grab on the go and great for those days you simply can't stomach breakfast or don't have the time. When in Asda looking for my usual multi-pack of Nutri-Grain bars I saw "Alpen Light Chocolate and Fudge" These come in a box of 5 bars for around £1.50. My initial reaction was questioning who would want to eat fudge and chocolate in the mornings? Not having much of a sweet tooth myself, but the bars are spot on perfect for a mid morning or general snack. They are filling and do hit that spot if you are after something a little ... I've done a few reviews of cereal bars and yoghurts so by now you'll know I'm a bit of a snacker at work. I get so much hungrier on weekdays than weekends and I'm sure it's because I'm just sitting at my desk relatively bored and notice the hunger more than I do when I'm off climbing mountains. So 10.30's about the time I'll crack and devour a yoghurt or snack. Being a bit of a MoneySaver too, I have no loyalty to a particular brand, opting instead for whatever's on offer, as I'm sure many others also do In The Current Economic Climate. Today's snack was an Alpen Light bar - Chocolate and Fudge variety. Alpen is probably the most famous and respected brand of ... Read the complete review

I'm a huge fan of cereal bars, one of my favourite brands is Alpen and their Light range. I was on the lookout for some toffee flavoured ones earlier this week but couldnt find them, instead I spotted the light chocolate and fudge bars and thought they sounded like just the thing to satisfy my sweet tooth. I always thought that packs of Alpen Light contained 6 bars but for some reason the chocolate and fudge ones have only 5, plus the box is a different shape from the other flavours being longer and thinner. Clever marketing by Alpen? or are they just trying to save money? Stop press....I've seen the same bars on sale in Asda today but ... Read the complete review

As a member of weight watchers i first became aware of the range of alpen light bars thanks to another member - these bars are under 70 cals with very low saturated fat levels which makes them just one point per bar. ONE POINT! that is amazing and is equal to 2 apples or a very small banana (i am comparing to fruit as that is the only thing as low in points as one of these bars!) Although these are marketed as a 'diet' food they taste nothing of the sort. They are sweet and soft and have pieces of chocolate in which are not sparse and there are enough to give you a real taste of the chocolate. The fudge pieces are interspaced within the bar and every bite ... Read the complete review
