I was passing down the cereal isle at my local supermarket, trying to decide which mundane cereal I would like to purchase, knowing full well that even though I had decided to turn over a new leaf and eat breakfast everyday from now on, it would only take two days until I was slipping into the same routine of pressing snooze on my alarm one too many times, leaving only enough time to jump in the shower, get dressed, do my teeth and run out the door for work. Whilst reaching for my usual Weatabix Minis I noticed the cereal bar section out the corner of my eye and decided to take a look. After some deliberation I decided to plonk for a couple of Alpen Light ... Read the complete review

There is always a box of these in the cupboard as my mum eats them on her weight watchers diet as 1 bar contains only 1 point! I often take them for a snack as I find them quick and easy to eat and relatively filling too, I also like the fact that you get a little bit of chocolate! We buy ours from Tesco where they can be found in the cereal aisle, they come in a box of 5 and cost around £1.69 but can often be found on offers such as 2 boxes for £2.50. The box shows a picture of the product and tells you that each bar has less than 70 calories. Inside the cardboard box, each bar is individually wrapped which makes them great for lunchboxes or good if you are ... Read the complete review

So hubby helped me eat the Alpine Fruit & Nut with Chocolate bars I reviewed the other day and after I told him they make a Chocolate and Fudge Light version off I went to the shop to buy some to try. Again the box is now slightly different to that pictured but is still caramel coloured with an ice blue mountain scene. On the front it clearly says that there are fewer than 70 calories per bar (there's actually only 63). The back of the pack has the ingredients and nutritional info and a current promotion for your chance to win an Alpine Escape. Each box comes with 5 individually wrapped 'Prebiotic mixed cereal bars with fudge, plain chocolate ... Read the complete review

I have reviewed Kellogg's Nutri-Grain bars in the past as I am a fan of cereal bars. They are easy to grab on the go and great for those days you simply can't stomach breakfast or don't have the time. When in Asda looking for my usual multi-pack of Nutri-Grain bars I saw "Alpen Light Chocolate and Fudge" These come in a box of 5 bars for around £1.50. My initial reaction was questioning who would want to eat fudge and chocolate in the mornings? Not having much of a sweet tooth myself, but the bars are spot on perfect for a mid morning or general snack. They are filling and do hit that spot if you are after something a little ... I've done a few reviews of cereal bars and yoghurts so by now you'll know I'm a bit of a snacker at work. I get so much hungrier on weekdays than weekends and I'm sure it's because I'm just sitting at my desk relatively bored and notice the hunger more than I do when I'm off climbing mountains. So 10.30's about the time I'll crack and devour a yoghurt or snack. Being a bit of a MoneySaver too, I have no loyalty to a particular brand, opting instead for whatever's on offer, as I'm sure many others also do In The Current Economic Climate. Today's snack was an Alpen Light bar - Chocolate and Fudge variety. Alpen is probably the most famous and respected brand of ... Read the complete review
