Cereal bars can come in very handy if you are looking for a low calorie snack that is going to fill that gap until you enjoy your next meal. But cereal bars can vary greatly, some are moist, tempting and very moreish and others can be dry as a stick, very unappetising and leave you feeling extremely disappointed. Weetabix the company produce ... Read the complete review

Now I have to admit that I have never had a liking for Alpen or any muesli type products come to that, so I was taking a bit of a risk when I picked up these Alpen Light Chocolate and Orange bars in Tesco. There was a good chance that I would take one bite, spit it out and that would be that and I would have wasted my money. On the other hand ... Read the complete review

I seem to be permanently on the look out for new ways to indulge my sweet tooth without piling on the pounds so when I saw these on Tesco's shelves I thought, why not try and see what they're like! They cost £1.65 for a box of 5 bars each at 21g a bar. They seemed the ideal thing to take to work in the hope that a little bit of ... Read the complete review

I usually buy Kelloggs Nutrigrain cereal bars as a surrogate for breakfast. However, I saw an offer for Alpen Light Chocolate & Orange Cereal Bar at Tescos (£1.65 for 5 bars) and decided to try them out instead. Outer Packaging: The box is a smartly designed and coloured box, containing the 5 bars. The box is made from card and is ... Read the complete review

Prebiotic mixed cereal bar with plain chocolate, orange, apple and a plain chocolate drizzle. I recently found a 35p off coupon so i thought i would give these a try instead of the Morrisons own brand i usually buy. My first thought at the supermarket was why such a big box? There is no need really as they could quite easily ... Read the complete review

I am always on the look out for a nice low fat treat and was excited to find Asda had the full range of the new Alpen Light bars, including this delicious Chocolate & Orange variety. You get five bars in a box and although they are quite small I find them to be filling and they satisfied the rather strong chocolate craving I had ... Read the complete review

I sit at my computer for most of the day. Up until about 18 months ago, I used to snack. When I say 'snack', I mean seriously eat crisps, chocolate, sweets. I think it was more out of boredom that need. Then I really needed to lose weight and cut out all bad food. That mid-morning need for a boost of energy though is still very important, so I ... I went through a phase where I'd eat nothing but Alpen Light bars, but only ever tried the Raisin and the Summer Fruits options. Though more recently I tried the chocolate orange option. When you remove the cereal bar from the packet, you will get a strong scent of the bar, which reminds me of Terry's chocolate! Its about the size of a ... Read the complete review

As you can eat two of these as one of your B choices if you are on the Slimming World plan then I thought that they were worth a try - they are really nice although I thought they tasted quite 'nutty' so if this is a problem for you then avoid them, they do though hit the chocolate need quite well & are reasonably filling as a snack - something different from the usual healthy fruit bars that are on the market & not too artificial tasting. If you want something low-fat & sweet then these are certainly worth a try!

Alpen Light - Chocolate and Orange ********************************** I've never been a huge fan of cereal bars but as I have recently become aware that I eat far too much chocolate (What's that? There's no such thing as too much chocolate, ah, you're right!) I thought it was about time to start looking for some healthier ... Read the complete review
