... £1.25 which i thought was an ok price. Each bar has less than 70 calories and only one Weightwatchers point value so is a winner for dieters looking to lose a bit of weight. When i bite into a bar, it tastes really sweet and there is a gorgeous explosion of tastes inside my mouth. It tastes very fruity but mostly i can taste the apples and the raspberrys very strong. There is a small drizzling of icing on the top which compliments the rest of the bar well. It tastes really yummy and i love it because its so chewy...more

Premium Review Weetabix Alpen Light Summer Fruits: Not just for Summer! (882 words)

I went to Asda in search of some low-calorie cereal bars. I didn't really have any taste in mind, so it was going to make my search that little bit easier. As I browsed though, the majority of them had well over 100 calories, and although this may not seem like that much, the sugar content was really high! Then I noticed a range I had not come across before - Alpen Light. I'd heard of the normal variety, but not these ones! On the shelves, there was a choice of three flavours; Summer Fruits Apple And Sultana Chocolate And Orange After a little researching, I found out that these also come in a Citrus Fruits variety! I checked the calories, ...  Read the complete review

As you may have read from some of my other reviews, i finally joined Weightwatchers after weeks of agonising on Monday. My first weigh in will be on Monday coming so i have been trying to find loads of low calorie foods and snacks to munch on that wont end up with me getting even heavier hips! I remember eating these bars a few years ago but i decided to get them a few days ago when i spotted them in Asda. The bars i am talking about are Alpen Light Summer Fruit bars. They are made by popular manufacturer Weetabix. One box has 6 bars in it and cost me £1.25 which i thought was an ok price. Each bar has less than 70 calories ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Weetabix Alpen Light Summer Fruits: Low calorie but actually tastes nice (557 words)

When I'm getting a bit peckish around 11 in the morning I was often found raiding the biscuit tin and for not much of a snack was probably eating 200-300 calories. Not really what you want. I have started to move over to the more substantial cereal bars and have after trying many that were on offer I have now tried one of Alpen's lighter bars. These were on sale in my local Tesco express in a box of 5 for £1.72 so they are not the cheapest on the market but I am a firm believer in 'you pay for what you get' which is true most of the time. Inside the box there are 5 individual wrapped bars each of 21g The appearance/smell On opening the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Pretend It's Summer (326 words)

I sometimes have a cereal bar for breakfast because I'm in a rush in the mornings and like an extra few minutes in bed instead of having to do cereal so these are handy to grab and eat on the run. These Alpen Light bars are all wicked but my fave is the Summer Fruits one because they are lovely and sweet and taste nice because of the mixture of fruit in them. There are apple, cranberrys, raspberries and strawberry in the bar and these are all mixed in with a mixture of wheat, oats and rice. The strongest taste I think is the raspberries and even thought the bar is proper sweet they give it a bit of a sour taste that goes nice with the sweet ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Weetabix Alpen Light Summer Fruits: It doesn't HAVE to be summer! (491 words)

I have eaten lots of cereal bars but a firm favourite is a fairly new range, Alpen Light. I enjoy all their different cereal bars and often treat myself as they are incredibly low in calories and fat yet the flavours are interesting and enjoyable. This Summer Fruits bar is absolutely delicious at any time of the day; for breakfast when I can't face much else, a mid-morning snack when peckish or for a quick suppertime snack to fill the hole. Upon opening the wrapper you'll come across your one and only disappointment, the bar is much smaller than the packet makes it appear. Perhaps they have done this to prevent breakage to the bar, although cynically I feel ...  Read the complete review
