Advantages: Tasty and Healthy, keeps you full till lunch.

Disadvantages: Not widely available

A few months back I embarked on a diet. The diet I am following allows me to eat what I like as long as I count it and do not go over my limit each day.
I am one of those people that will almost always find time for breakfast and really see the benefits from doing so. When I started the diet I went out and bought all the healthy cereals and starting measuring out. But what I found was that they were not as healthy as they claimed. For example I found less Saturated fat in some chocolate cereals than muesli. This meant that in order to stay in my limit my bowl of cereal would end up being minute, and not even worth bothering about.
Then on a shopping trip to Asda I noticed the Crunchy Bran. I do like bran cereals and find they fill well so thought I would give this a shot.

~~~PRICE~~~
At the moment a 375g box is selling for £1.49. This may be an introductory offer, but I hope it stays as I find this a reasonable price.
~~~NUTRITION~~~
This cereal is a high fibre cereal containing wholegrain wheat and oat bran. Because of this it is low in saturated fats (The bad ones) and also low in calories. It has added vitamins (B1, B2, B5, B6, D), as well as iron and calcium.

Although it would be obvious it is worth pointing out that it contains Oats, Wheat and Barley which some people may be allergic to. It may also contain traces of milk.

It is suitable for vegetarians.

~~~LOOK, TASTE AND SMELL~~~
On opening the box there is no strong smell and even with my nose deep in the box there is not much to write home about. The smell reminds me of the older style weetaflakes, and possibly the new but I have not as yet tried them. I like my bowl nice and full with a helping of skimmed milk just coming up to the top of the cereal. Now it’s time to eat. As you would expect the first experience is a crunch. The curls do go a little soggy if left in the milk for too long but that does not affect the taste. The cereal tastes much better than all Bran, though I like that anyway, but it is a smoother version and also has touches of the weetabix flavour about it. Each curl is around 1cm in size across and around .5 wide with a depth of approximately 1mm. This means that you will get several in each spoonful and often a mixture of textures since some may have become slightly softer than others.
~~~MY VERDICT~~~
Despite the fact that this cereal at first appears very plain and boring I have become addicted. I normally have a bowlful each morning and it will keep me full until lunch. This is due to the fact that the bran takes longer for the body to digest. The high fibre helps to keep me healthy and the extra vitamins are a bonus. I bought the cereal for myself and as there is no fancy cartoons on the packet with no flashy gimmicks I assumed my children would leave it well alone. But no, they insisted on trying it. I expected them to refuse to eat anymore than the first mouthful but surprisingly they not only finished every curl but have requested it again on other days. So sadly I must share the healthy breakfast I love so much, so much so that we always have two boxes in the cupboard.
Apart from that small gripe I think the only other would be availability. I have only found this product in Asda, which is not where I normally shop. Although it is not far for me to go I would like to see it in the aisle of my regular store.

But overall, a great cereal, at a good price and one that I will certainly be buying again.
