I'm not a big fan of the original Weetabix bars as I find the taste too bland and wheetie for me and was put off as a child but when I saw an advert for the new Weetabix Minis I thought I would give them a try. I am always looking for little bite size cereals/nibbles that I can eat through the day at work and something that is not too fattening and I thought these would be perfect.

They come in three different varities: chocolate crisp, honey and nut crisp and fruit and nut crisp. I decided to give the fruit and nut variety a try. I bought a box from sainsburys, they were 2 boxes for £2 or one box for £1.40 so I got 2 as I thought this was quite good value.

Basically they are little bite size pieces of wholegrain with a mixture of currents, hazlenuts and almonds. They are held together by a sweet glaze that give them a nice flavour. They are also very crunchy as well. I think the currents and nuts give them their flavour as they are not bland at all. You can eat them like a regular cereal or as nibbles through the day so quite a versitile cereal.

There are approximately 12, 36g servings in a box and each 36g serving contains only 129 calories and 1.7g of fat so an excellent snack choice. The packagin is quite eyecatching, just like the original weetabix box, a bright yellow colour and in my opinion is a good quality product, an excellent addition to the Weetabix family and I will definitely be trying out the other flavours soon.

I know some people say that they are a bit too dry to nibble on - well the answer is yes and no, they are a bit dry but it is just like nibbling on a crunchy biscuit, with a cup of tea or glass of milk as an accompaniment they are great. My friend came round for a quick breakfast eysterday and these were all I had in so she gave them a tried and loved them too. I suggested to her about eating them dry and she tried it and thinks it may be a snack that she has from time to time at work too.

Summary: Great for cereal with milk or as a crunchy bite size snack
