Advantages: Tasty, Chocolatey, Yummy
Disadvantages: highish fat content, high carbohydrates
Weetabix has always been a favourite of mine and is one of only a couple of cereals that I can actually eat without adding any sweetener. Weetabix are probably best known for their Wheat biscuit type cereal of which you have two or three, float in milk and then mash and eat-you know the sort? Anyway Weetabix have progressed (okay it might have been a while ago). Along side the normal Weetabix on the shelf you?ll now find a range of other Weetabix style products, and this includes the topic of this opinion ? Weetabix mini crunch with chocolate. Each packet of Weetabix mini crunch with chocolate comes in a 500gram size, and cost around £1.19. There are other flavours available in this range including banana, honey and fruit and nut. The box is attractively designed in yellow and brown colour, with pictures of tiny Weetabix and chunks of chocolate bursting towards you. The box is the size of the average Weetabix 24 pack. ~~~~So what are these Weetabix mini crunch? ~~~ When you open the pack you?ll find none other than tiny copies of its larger brother ? mini Weetabix! Hundreds of them all eager to get into your bowl and be consumed: Well okay hundreds may be an exaggeration but I am not about to count them. Hidden inside each of tiny cereal bites are some chocolate chips. ~~~So how do they taste? ~~~~ If you like Weetabix then you?re bound to like these. As a lover of Weetabix in any shape or form (But hating honey I guess I?ll miss the honey version) I can honestly say these are a welcome addition to the Weetabix family. They taste of normal Weetabix with the added benefit of chocolate. ~~~Are they good for you? ~~~ In a word no! Not really. You see the fat content 6.2g (3.3g saturates): while the carbohydrate content is Massive 73.3g (31.8g sugars): And sodium is 0.6g. Of course arguably the benefit would be its fairly healthy in fibre (6.7g) and nice to eat (All nutrition?s here per 100
g). ~~~Overall~~~ Weetabix is an extremely popular cereal biscuit and remains as popular today as it has ever been. Normal Weetabix is suitable for a soft diet, and a low fat diet, though I am not sure whether the same can be said of these smaller version with encase chocolate. Apart from the size of this smaller version, there is an obvious difference in as much as there seems to be a coating on the smaller version. This I am assured is to help them remain crunchy in milk ? something I personally don?t like ?I?m a soggy person (as to speak). The product has added ingredients of which include: GLUTEN, COWS MILK, and sugar. So they are not suitable for a lot of diets including sugar reduced, gluten free, etc. As someone on one of these diet I can only say in my defence that the reason I have tried this cereal is for the purpose of this opinion ? as to whether you believe that or not well you know me ? would I lie to you? A nice alternative is to eat them without milk straight from the box with a cuppa tea! My ratings: Packaging: 9/10 Taste: 10/10 Health benefits: 4/10 Value: 8/10 Overall: 9/10 Weetabix Limited, Burton Latimer, Kettering, Northants. A product I would highly recommend to anyone not on a special diet. Thanks for reading - Dave

Faloula - 16/01/03 My personal faves are the Minibix Fruit n Nut ones; I take them to work in a small bag; if you do Weightwatchers I normally bag up 1 points worth (10 Minibix) and eat them dry.
