Advantages: Good price, good taste, good for you!
Disadvantages: None
I have always liked Weetabix, but even more so at the moment as I am trying, and gradually succeeding, to loose some weight. Why is this particular cereal a great advantage? Easy it comes in ready calorie controlled portions and thus I don’t have to mess about weighing stuff when I’m half asleep in the morning!
Anyway let’s start at the beginning.
The Packaging
Weetabix comes in a distinctive yellow box, which hasn’t changed very much over the years, complete with the Weetabix logo in blue. There is almost always some special offer or other on the box too, with tokens for you to collect. The boxes contain 12, 24, 36, 48 or even 72 individual Weetabix biscuits. Inside the box the biscuits are then wrapped in packs of 12 in white greaseproof paper.
This means that whilst you are eating your way through the first 12 the remainder of the biscuits are still sealed and airtight to retain their freshness.
For those of you who like a full description - the biscuits themselves are oblong in shape with rounded ends and are about 5 inches long and about 2 inches wide.
The Availability and Cost
Weetabix is available from all supermarkets and most grocery and corner shops. Currently prices in Tesco’s range from about 75p for a pack of 12 up to about £3.75 for a pack of 72. You don’t have to be a mathematician to spot the economies of scale here!
The 12 pack works out at about 8p per biscuit whilst the 72 pack works out at about 5p per biscuit.
The Content
This is a high fibre, low fat cereal, which is fortified with iron, vitamins B1 and B2, niacin and folic acid – great for you if you’re trying for a family.
The whole grain in Weetabix is a great source of fibre, which not only helps to keep you regular; it helps to maintain a healthy heart too.
Weetabix can be eaten by babies as young as 6 months old (in small quantities) as it can be mashed to a pulp when the milk is added.
A serving of two biscuits will only set you back 128 calories and it’s suitable for vegetarians too.
The Taste
I eat my Weetabix with skimmed milk and that’s it! I pour on the milk and eat them just as they begin to soften, rather than letting them get really soggy. The taste is just a simple, enjoyable wheaty taste – sorry I can’t explain any better than that!
A lot of people like to sprinkle sugar on the top of Weetabix, but I find this too sweet and much prefer them ‘au naturel’ so to speak.
I do sometimes slice a banana on top or even strawberries when they’re in season – that’s a real treat!
The Complaint
I’m joking – there isn’t one, but if there was just write to:

The Conclusion
Weetabix is a good all round cereal – great to eat with just milk, or with added fruit, and it’s ideal at any time of the day!
I have even been known to eat one with a drop of milk in the middle of the night when I can’t sleep!
Summary: A tasty cereal at agood price
